RSX-972 Forgets Settings if Power Removed

I have an RSX-972 that forgets all input/output settings if the wall power is taken away.
Is there something like a 'bios' battery that I can check for to fix this ?

    TIA ;x(

The 976 and up hold it in an eeprom chip that doesn't lose it's settings. Not sure on the 972. Might want to give Rotel a call on Monday.

Everytime the power went out my 972 would lose the settings too. It was a real PITA. If you have digital inputs assigned, inputs named or whatever it was a hassle. My wife couldn't even get the DVD player sound to work after an outage. My solution:

      A Monster HT UPS 500.

You need a battery back up. I needed one for my RP tv anyway.

You know what seems funny though, I had the receiver in storage for almost 2 months while I was between homes, I don't think it lost the settings then. It seemed to happen only when the power goes out, whether it was in standby or powered on. Prior to having it in storage I used to turn the receiver completely off by the front panel button, could this have something to do with it?

Yeah, I got a bunch of stuff like that set-up. I'm getting pretty good at entering the info now that I made a cheat sheet with all the settings.
Only problem is that many of my names like dVd and dSS have letters towards the end of the alphabet.
I sent an e-mail to Rotel tech support asking what to do. We'll see ..

Heres what I got from Rotel today:

There is a storage cap on the digital board that maintains the FM presets and the

internal settings. This cap fails to maintain a charge after a period of time.

We do have replacement storage caps to fix this problem.

              Just a quick update:
I sent my receiver off to Rotel. It came back today (after almost a month). It is repaired and they did the work for free.
Let me say that again, they did the repair work for free on a piece of equipment that is close to 5 years old !

I used to be a stero junkie, must have owned 25-30 different stereo systems always looking for that perfect sound. That was until I found Rotel and specifically the RB980BX poweramp (which goes ever so well with my Newform Research Ribbon speakers). This setup met all...

                Hi all,

I have a question on behalf of a friend. He has an RSX-972 integrated AV amp with pre-amp outputs (I think I have the model number right). He wants connect the pre-outs for the main left and right channels on the 972 to a good quality stereo power amp for a better quality 2 channel...

how great the difference 2ch Rsx972 to Rsp1068 as pre-amp
                by bung99
Considering a 1068 instead of using my 972 as a per-amp. I have the RCD1072 (cd player) pluged in analog & the RMB 1095 as the power amp to my NS1000M Yamaha speakers for 2 ch with my sub set to cut in at the lowest setting on the sub. I do have a 5.1 setup but mostly play CDs & get into a...
