    RSP1068 and RS232 feedback

I'm currently controlling this preamp via RS232 using the Pronto TSU9600/RFX9600 and is working great but...

Philips is coming out with 2-way RS232 and I don't see anything for this on the Rotel protocol, does it exist or is this preamp only 1-way

You have full feedback from the 1068. It's on the first page of the protocol document.

Aside from the ASCII display that normally scrolls across the screen, the full feedback is in bitwise style. IE, you will get 42 ASCII characters the make up the two line display, and then 5 bitwise flags for all the ICONS on the display.

Honestly, aside from what decoder you're in most of it is not needed. You will have better feedback parsing the ASCII display as it scrolls across. (The Pro-logic ICON will be on for all modes of PL. Parsing the display will let you know MOVIE, MUSIC, GAME, etc)

I'm not sure how the new Pronto program will handle it, but since it's based on Java-Script we should be fine. How easy it will be might be a different story.

Not looking to do too much actually, just display the feedback of the volume level

Should be pretty easy then, pending the Pronto-Script language. Volume will either be 'VOLUME XX', 'VOLUME MIN', or 'VOLUME MAX'. Set it to look for 'VOLUME_' and assign the next three ASCII characters to the volume level.

          Help with RS232 Control
          by Kevin D
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out RS232 control of a 1055. I'm using a third party control system and this is one of my largest programming jobs so far. Previous systems have been through IR or straight RS232 ASCII strings. Really two questions.

1: What is the 1055 looking for,...

PC RS232 controller for Rotel gear
          by simonb68
I have written a simple VB program to control certain Rotel gear via the RS232 interface, available on my highly polished web site here http://www.sbarnard.nildram.co.uk/ :alol:

Its not quite complete, there are a few buttons missing and the display can get corrupted sometimes. I'm...

Problem with RDV-1060 when controlled by RS232
          by The Lean
          HI

I would be very interested to hear if any one who has a RDV-1060 controlled via RS232, are having problems with the unit display and control locking up or all the illumination going out, yet the unit will still work via 232. I have set up some soak tests with my own unit and also a...

          RSP-1570 and RS232 mod?
          by Tomahawk
          Hi.
I have a Linn Sneaky DS connected to a Rotel RSP-1570 Processor/Preamplifier (the rear panel has RS-232C).

The Sneakys amplifier is disabled and I am therefor not using the Sneakys volum control, but the Rotels.
This means that using an iThouch/PlugPlayer I am not able...
