    Rotel amp (1080 & RMB1075) question

I've had these two amps for about 12 weeks now and am quite happy with my SQ output.
Question: after living with this pair for a while, I've just come to notice that either amp when turned on emits a very slight buzzing sound from its cabinet...not from any speaker source....ie, no humm, etc.
Is this normal? It's only noticeable when near to them. They work just fine.

    3 hours later: no humm...
I'm putting this problem down to household current...check some other threads, etc.
At any rate, it's very quiet now.....both of them silent.
For info: I live in an 80 yr old house...old wiring...old neighborhood, etc.

Not common, but not unheard of. Like the other threads it does usually boil down to current issues.

If you haven't planned on running a new 15a circuit, I would. Running just a 1080 on an older shared circuit can cause issues, adding a 1075 and your other equipment has to be straining it.

        Thanks, Kevin
At around 11pm ESt....stilll no buzz...will wait and see but I'm getting more and more sure that it's not an issue with the amps. For readers: this looks more and more like an issue with my 80 yr/old house......not a Rotel issue.

The buss might be happening only when other appliances are running and drawing current, eg air conditioning, pool filters, etc etc.

Hey while we are at it, do you hear much difference in sound quality between the 1075 and the 1080 ? (not the buzzing just the music) ?

You know, Pete, I've not really tested them in the same config...but no, I can not hear ANY difference in them. I did this two amp thing to overcome a deficit in how my Klipsch RF-7 front pair sounded. They are just very finicky about power and the 2-channel RB-1080 makes them VERY happy. The 1075 does the center (an RC-7), surround (a pair of RF-5), and center/back (RC35)...all Klipsch but not known to be as "power hungry" as the fronts so the difference in watts/channel is no big thing. The 1075 is so good I don't even think of it being there. It's just good balanced sound front to back. Sometimes I have to deliberately play back a DVD-a or SACD disc just to remind me how good they are....otherwise they simply "dissappear" in a beautiful 3d sound field.
I also like pure 2 channel music....ditto the 1080/RF7 combo....but the sound in DTS neo6 "faked" surround is so good with these Rotels, I use it more and more depending on the recording.
I've never heard the digital amps because I'm just not going there in price...but I can't see how I could be hearing anything better than this Rotel combo that I have. Especially for the $$!! What great buys! And they look cool!

When I owned the RB-1080 and RMB-1075 my RB-1080 also had a slight buzz sound from its transformer too (not enough to bother me though). The RMB-1075 was dead quiet.

I ended up selling the RB-1080 and RMB-1075 for a even better 7 ch amp (Elektra 7) due to the dreaded left channel fuse issue with the RB-1080 which was never fully fixed completely in my opinion.

Yes!! and so would I....but at $4K....I guess I'll stay here in Rotel land and enjoy the experience of good sound on a low budget :P ....but that Elektra sure looks good!

                  As the topic says...

Is it possible to bi-amp RMB1075 with zone 2?

I have RSP1068/RMB1075 kombo and i have connected Front Left/Right as usual... but what happens if i connect zone 2 Left/Right output to RMB1075 Left/Right surround and bi-amp the speakers?

                  by rav934
Spent considerable time this weekend comparing the Rotel 1080 and Outlaw Mono block 2200 amps driven by the RX-V2500 pre-amp with B&W 804s speakers.

Listened to jazz, rock, big band, classical.

                  My impressions:

RX-V2500 direct to 804s...decent bass but...

Best Speaker or upgrade for my RB-1080 based system...
                  by Bicklehoff
Hi Folks, my first time here. I'm wondering what you think the next upgrade for my system should be (outside of starting all over). I bought all but the Amp around 2003 and the Amp around 2006 (I think I missed the fuse/channel issues). I am only a weekend warrior as far as understanding the equipment...

HK Receiver to Rotel 1080 Amp Help
                  by m1ke323
I just bought a Rotel 1080 to use for my tower speakers I am building. Previously I was just using my HK 225 receiver to power my speakers. I hooked up the amp with RCA cables from my HK receiver, I tried the Video 1 out, Video 2 out, Tape out, etc.

When I tried to use the amp to power...
