RMB-1095 Question From Proud New Owner

Hello everyone. I am the proud owner of a new RMB-1095 and I have a question I thought that just about anyone here could probably answer. Whenever my system is on, with no music being sent to the speakers, I can hear a very slight hum whenever I am close to the speaker. I’ve read about this before, but because this is the first power amp I’ve ever owned I am not sure if this should be expected to some degree.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

You will get an ever so slight hum/hiss from the speakers if you are within an inch or two of your tweeter, it's the power going through the system. If you are getting a hum that is louder, it is most likely the cable for your TV causing the problem.

Unplug the cable from the wall and see if the hum goes away. If it does, then you have the infamous ground loop issue. You will need to isolate the cable by either having it go through a power conditioner (something like the monster products) or getting a ground loop eliminator box from the various places that sell them.

Thank you for the info PewterTA. It does seem as if it is the power going through the system because if I get more than a few inches away, that ever so slight noinse is no longer audible. Like I said, it is my first power amp and I'm never going back.

Slight Hum Since Adding the 5250
          by benezrj
I just purchased a Parasound New Classic 5250 5-channel amplifier and am now using my 7-year old Sony ES30 receiver as a front end processor until I upgrade to a dedicated prepro.

I have a question or two about some faint hum I’m hearing when I get close to the speakers (when both the...

          1095 Hum
          by KEN KAZ
ok, i periodically have the 1095 hum.

it seem sthat when the unit is cold there is no hum. whenyou get it nice and toasty warm, like after listning to Zeppelin at 100dB for an hour or so, i can hear a hum. it is a 60hz hum that rides on top of the slight ringing in my ears.

help with hum when connecting second sub
          by Adam321
          Hello,

I built a new sub which uses a pro amplifier. I decided I wanted to reconnect my old Velodyne sub back up as well to improve headroom. I used a y-adapter at the input of the proamp to daisy chain over to the old sub.

When I first turned everything back on I was...

          Well folks,
I wanted to say hello to everyone. I became a proud Rotel owner about 2 weeks ago when I picked up my RSX-1055 from the local dealer. It's a beautiful piece of gear. Heard about this forum from some of the fine folks over at Club Polk. Anyways, plenty of good stuff here. Flashed my...

Hi all, I am a proud new owner of B and W 683's, the htm61, and the ds3's. In a word....WOW!!! My old speakers were the monitor audio bronze. I'm not even sure what series they were - approx. 10 years old or so. I never used to believe all the stuff you read about how much better music-mainly 2...
