Hope this isnt an ignorant question but i have to ask.Do amps when connected to a reciever take over drastically with their own type of sound? The reason i ask this because i connected a sunfire 300x2 amp to my rotel rsx1056 and did not like it at all.My rotel by itself sounded alot better. The reason i had got the amp was to free up the rec. some since my speakers are 4ohm.Needless to say the rsx1056 solo was alot better than when i added this amp.Should i have used an amp of the same mfg?I was actually thinking about the rb1072 but it's only 100x2.The rsx1056 is 100x2 in 2ch. so i dont think it would of made any difference so i opted on the sunfire since i got a good deal and that they run cool.I can return the sunfire but now i'm back to square one and wonder if i should even bother with another amp.Anyone have a similar occurrence?
Didnt like sunfire amp with rotel?

Certainly. Everything will color the sound, but the amp can have a dramatic effect. A lot of people experience great results going from a mid-line Yamaha or Denon by just adding a Rotel amp.
Also don't excuse the RB-1072 based on wattage. It's similar to the 1077 (100x7) that I replaced a 1095 with (200x5), and easily sounds way better. The RB1072 will easily sound like 200watts, and running into a 4ohm load could make it sound closer to a 3-400 watt amp. The whole point of more wattage is more control, the design of the amp gives you a lot more control for the same wattage. I've got my 1091 running a 2ohm load with stride.

Hi Kevin,
Just like Rick C, I have an RSX-1056 and an external amp to drive my front speakers.
So do you think an RB-1072 could successfully replace my RB-990BX (200Wx2 @ 8 ohms) to drive a pair of Dynaudio's 52SE (4 ohms, 86 dB/W.m), in terms of available current and control ?
Thanks,
Fernando- Bottom

Aside from the RB-1090, I would feel confident putting the 100 watt digital amps against anything else Rotel has produced. They do have a slightly different sound, so I do recommend having a trial run or demo if possible.

I have heard a lot of bad things about Sunfire amps over the years and thus have avoided them. My buddy just picked up a Sunfire and resold it the next week as his existing Adcom amps blew it away. YMMV

Interesting,i've heard more good than bad about sunfire. It was either you liked them or hated them and nothing inbetween.some have said they are voiced matched, not sure exactly what that means but maybe it's true, which is why you either like them or not.Originally posted by LikeCoiledSteelI have heard a lot of bad things about Sunfire amps over the years and thus have avoided them. Kevin,
If possible how does the rotel rb1072 compare to the PS audio trio a-100.I seen very little on the rotel, but the ps audo seems to get good reviews. Both of these would be something i may look at if i could get some opinions.thanks- Bottom

I haven't heard the 1072 yet, basing my opinion on my 1077. While the only review on it wasn't as good as the 1077, I would think that to be a fluke. Hopefully some more reviews and personal testimonials will come along soon.

by kevin l.Is my sunfire TGIII and sig amp (405wattx5) going to be a good match with B&W 803, htm1, 805? I have not heard anyone using sunfire combos with B&W and that concerns me. I'm looking to purchase this B&W combo to work off my sunfire.-

by audioquesoI was looking for a great amp (under $1k) for my B&W Nautilus 805s that are being fed by my Marantz SR6400 for the time being. After much review and audition, I am considering a Sunfire Stereo Amp (300x2) or the Grand Cinema (200x5). Definite pros are they run cool (I have a small baby who will... -
by sbankHi All, I have a question on wattage for the RB-1080 amp. I know a lot of you keep your amp on all the time, and some people turn it on and off. I sure don't want to bring up that discussion again on which is better, but I do have a question from a fiscal standpoint.
The RB-1080 (I...-
