    Decoding MP3 by RSP-1068

    Hi,

    I have two questions:

    1
How can i let the rsp-1068 decode mp3's in stead of mine DVD-player.

    2.
Where can i "find" a LPCM (192K) -signal, so the display of the rsp-1068 will show it?

    Thx

I believe you have to send a digital signal from a computer and set the output of the sound card correctly, but I've never seen some one try it.

    Not sure on that one.

      Thx
Well if you are taking digital out from your source, the 1068 does it automatically, if it did not you would not be hearing anything :T

There are commercially available discs in this format, so with one of these playing in a CD unit tat can read the signal, once passed to the 1068 digitally, it will display
      OR
You could encode your own track accordingly and end up wit the same result

          1)

Does your CD player support MP3? probably not I guess. If the player cannot read the stream to start with it cannot be passed to the processor.

          2) just use a search engine

The CD supporting MP3 means it can decode it. I doubt you can set it to send it out undecoded.

Thx Kevin. That is exact the problem (challange)!
Do you know with which equipment i can let the rsp-1068 decode?

I'm pretty sure a PC with a digital out is the only thing I've seen to support it.

I'm pretty sure the RSP-1068 does not support MP3. I understand that this is due to licensing.

I've tried almost every directshow filter to send mp3 as raw through the pc sound card to my 1068 - no luck ...

What you need is a "Harman Kardon DAL-150". You can buy one on ebay for less than 10 bucks.

As far as a 192khz signal Classic Records has 24/192 discs. I have Pete Townshend's Who Came First and the 1068 decodes it nicely.

Does the 1098 decode it then? My Pioneer DVD player has an option in the menu to allow for MP3s to be sent in MP3 format through the digital connection in RAW format or as an analog signal in PCM. When I used PCM the 1098 would display the audio format of Analog on it and when in RAW it showed MP3 and sounded pretty darn good that way...

Now with it hooked up to my old Yamaha receiver which didn't do anything with MP3s, in RAW it doesn't play a single thing...so I figured it was actually outputing the actual MP3 file for decode by an external source...

                          Dunno.

                            Thanx all the reactions.

Are there alternatives for the HK DAL-150.

                              Hi All,

I just noticed this listed as a feature on the 1056 and am wondering if 1056 owners can explain how the mp3 decoding works on the 1056. What type of connection is required? Is there OSD for the mp3 listings/playlists?

                              TIA

I recently activated mediashare on my Directv HR23-700 HDDVR, so I can play music, video and pictures on my PC through the DVR and hear them through my A/V system, and see the pics on my TV. Everything is set up properly on both my Win 7 PC and on my DVR. However, when I play an mp3 file, I get no...

We have receivers capable of decoding MP3 (not sure how useful that is) and we have lots of hard drive, network devices, and DVD players capable of playing MP3s. However, the separates world has yet to acknowledge the existance of this handy compressed format.

                              I wonder how long we'll...

Alright this issue has come up a few times from various people wondering how we go about using the built in MP3 decoding and to be honest until this morning I hadn't got a clear answer for you. It seems that like many manufactuers out there today they are all using the cirrus DSP chips which offer the...

I'm the proud owner of a new DSP-1098 ... my first Rotel component! Love it so far ... it's used primarily for home theater. I'm curious about the MP3 and HDCD capabilities though. HDCD is new to me, do I simply put a HDCD in my CD player and use the digital optical cable to connect the CD player to...
