    RSP-1066 and IR out

I do have the RSP-1066 in conjunction with the RDV-1060. The RSP is upfront and the RDV is located in the cabinet.

I'm using IR out 1/2 to pass the IR signal received by the RSP to the RDV. However no signal is passed.

When I read the manual it seems like the RSP only receives IR signals for its own. The only way to pass IR signals is to have an external IR receiver that is connected to EXT REM which then controls the RDV.

This seems to me pretty silly since I need the RSP and an IR receiver to pass the signal to the RDV. Who has experience with this? (I have the latest ROM 2.2.27 which is not out yet!)

The IR sensor inside of the 1066 will be focused on a certain set of frequencies that won't be compatible with every device out there.

In addition, typically if any device is hidden, they will all be hidden. The EXT IN, IR OUT allows you to use only one output of an IR system and daisy chain compatible devices. Also the ZONE IN allows the same without having to run two emitters/cables to each device.

So in a system design standpoint it makes more sense then only allowing the IR OUTS to control certain equipment that happen to share IR frequencies with the 1066.

      @Kevin,

I'm trying to understand your reply which is not 100% clear.

Are you saying the RSP-1066 could possibly not share the frequencies with certain equipment (in case the RDV-1060)?

This would mean although the RSP-1066 and RDV-1066 are from the same supplier, the RSP-1066 is not able to control the RDV-1060. If so, is there any other way to control the RDV-1066 when it is located in a closed cabinet.

        Hi there,

Looking at getting a Rotel system.

I heard the RSP1066 at the dealer the other day with the RMB1095 and it sounded brilliant. I noticed the 1098 on the website and it also looks pretty cool, but was wondering if anyone had had the chance to compare them? Can you...

        weak sub on the RSP-1098

Setup since yesterday: RSP-1098, RMB-1075, and RDV-1060 with catcables (just received, they are awesome); 2 fronts, 2 rears, 1 center, 1 sub (all speakers are Piega). I installed the most recent upgrade on the 1098 as well and then set to default settings.

        Cables are definitely connected...

Rotel RDV-1060 vs SoundBlaster X-Fi ExtremeMusic
        by slaikan
I decided to upgrade my 5 Year old SB Live sound card in my PC to a X-Fi ExtremeMusic. Made a huge difference to how my PC speakers sounded. I then was interested to see how it compared to a RSP-1068/RDV-1060. I've been lurking around on these forums and have noticed a few people have gone the PC audio...

Right now I have a Home Theater MX 600 remote the is working RF and I have all the little eyes at the end of the wires in front of the IR sensors on my equipment.

My dealer said that if I cut off the eye at the end of the wire and attach an 1/8 th inch adaptor so it will fit into the...

        RSP-1066 and IR out
        by j_nathalia
I have (an old -) RSP-1066 in conjunction with a RDV-1093 (after my RDV-1060 had too many problems and was replaced by Rotel).

My DVD player is stored in a cabinet so I have connected my IR out of the RSP-1066 to my RDV-1093.

The problem is no signals are received by...
