    How about that EX function?

How many of you folks are using the six (or seven) channel EX function with regular 5.1 material regularly?

It seems to work good for me for the most part, but movies like "Gone in Sixty Seconds" seems to have so much mono stuff in the side surrounds that it all dumps to the single back channel I run.

    See ya. Dave

    Dave,

I barely have room for 5 speakers in my listening room, so EX is out of the question for now

I'll be using it soon as I can get that two channel amp I need to augment the Outlaw...

By the way...did you know that the last two James Bond flicks have EX? They do...but it's not on the box!

I THINK Gladiator also has it.

Dave, I have used it some with my Lexicon that way. Of course, this is Club BK, but hey, I can play to, can't I?

Seems to liven up the rear soundstage a bit, I have to admit.

I need to get one more channel of amplification to have two rear speakers, instead of just one. I like the side speakers as dipolar and the rear as point source, but having a left and right rear as opposed to just the center rear opens up the spaciousness from behind.

          Soon....soon...

          See ya. Dave

Dave I use a 7.1 setup and run the Ref 30 in EX mode. For the most part in adds to the DVD's but on a few it is spectacular. The Crow Salvation comes to mind.I have dipoles for the sides and Directs for the backs the sound is really enveloping.

Gladiator is DTS-EX, but seems to decode just fine in Dolby EX. Pretty damn fine mix too.

UPDATE: Since we are doing a new Q&A, I thought I would bump this up in case anyone missed it the first time. A good way to see what has already been asked.

                    Hello everyone,

As you know, Dave Nauber offered an intimate Q&A with the members of Club Classe....

Please help me to understand the transfer function of a bi-pole.

In the past I have used the baffle simulator in Jeff B's Response Modeler 2.1 to visualize the transfer function of a dipole based on the the total path length (x dimension) from driver to driver.

                    I imagine...

Dave Brubeck is and will always be one of my favorite Jazz Musicians. It's extremely sad to see someone like him leave us... but atleast there still lots of music to still enjoy!

His Time Out album is still one of my best sounding pieces that I have to listen to. Might have to listen...

                    Hi All

I just got my 1098 and so far I am happy with it. One small thing concerning the build quality though:
The big Function knob/wheel to the left of the screen feels a bit "loose". I am not thinking of that it's very easy to turn/rotate, which is normal I think. It's...

Here is the issue. A recent SW upgrade puts a delay in the function knob. This really comes into play when I am labeling inputs.. as five clicks forward only takes me 4 places. (when I move the knob fast)

                    This really drives me...
