Power Amp for Monitor Audio GR10's

    Easy folks,

I'm running a Rotel 1056 with Monitor Audio GR10 and various other speakers (see sig.).

Have been considering a power amp to drive the front two. Have got an oportunity to get either RB-1070 or RB-1080 for £300 & £600 respectively.

I'm thinking I might as well get the 1080, but I won't be able to demo either.

Any recommendations/comments? Do I even need a power amp or is the 100watts in 2 channel mode from the 1056 getting the most out of the Monitor Audio's anyway?

    cheers,

    Minivan

I had a pair of these for a while driven by my RSX-1055 and thought it did a good job. I would think an RB-1070 with almost twice the power should be adequate for these bookshelves. However, I did not try them with any other amplification and that is the true test. You may want to see the online review on these at SoundStage, as he mentions them liking power but I don't remember what his references were.

As a fan of the GR-10's, I would be interested in your feedback with these whichever amp you go with.

Rotel RB1070 vs Rotel RB1090 review

I'm going to write a little bit about these 2 Rotel amps from my experience with both in my system at the same time.

        Setup:
        SqueezeBox3 -> Rotel RC1070 preamp -> Rotel RB1070/Rotel RB1090 -> Martin Logan Summits -> Joey's ears

        Build:

        RB1070 - bridging for 300+ watts
        by AudioHed
I'm considering getting another RB1070 amp and bridging the two for mono amplification. Can anyone comment on whether or not this would be a good idea. I have B&W CDM9's.

Has anyone done this or heard a configuration like this with bridged RB1070's???

        804N with Rotel RB1070 & RB991?
        by niggy
        Hi,

I have, lying around, a rotel RB-1070 and an older RB-991 amp.

I have the opportunity to get a used pair of 804Ns at a good price. Was thinking of using these to bi-amp the B&Ws with the 991 taking care of the lower frequencies and the 1070 handling the upper end....

        Rotel Audio/Video Power Conditioners
        by Nolan B
There are so many opinions and IMO lack of knowladge (including myself) when i comes to surge protection and line conditioners. I have a couple of questions about Rotels.

I recently sold my Richard Grey because it did not do what I needed. In the end I did't expect to much from it because...

Cheap way to power an amp on/off
        by Andrew Pratt
I have two power amps one has a built in power off and on toggle that my pre amp controls but my Class A Musical Fidelity amp does not. Given the Class A design this amp is sucking a lot of current from the wall and I wished I had a way to turn it on and off without resorting to an X10 switch or some...
