    Rotel 1095 circuit protection issue

I have a 1095 amp which trips the protection circuitry switch. Sometimes at low volumes, sometimes at high volumes.

I have sent the amp in to Rotel and they state it is ok.
I have moved speakers, wires, RCA connects to no avail.

There is no consistant manner as to which the protection circuitry blows....sometimes left side, sometimes right side, some times all, sometimes all but centre channel...

I am starting to think it may be related to my AC power.
    could this be the case?

I have heard some people are wiring a dedicated 20 amp circuit to the amp...gonna try this tonight.
And some people are investing in some costly power conditioners...would this help?

I have also sent in my Paradigms into the shop for reveiw and they state all is well.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

What else is on the circuit with the amp? That's probably the main question. Additionally, make sure that any type of circuit protection/etc that you plug the amp into isn't current limiting, a typical situation, which is why many people go straight to the wall.

Generally speaking, the majority of amps should be fine on a dedicated 15amp circuit, let alone a 20. However, the power itself from the wall might be an issue, are you in an older building?

When you say 'moved speakers' do mean moved them or tried different speakers? Perhaps vibration is causing something to short out the outputs of the amp?

Are you using the 12v trigger to turn on the amp?
If so remove it and leave the amp on and see if it stops

If the amp causes your circuit to shut down, you have more problems than your amp and its twelve volt trigger. Your circuit is either malfunctioning or has too many other electric appliances on it since you have no apparent headroom.

Heat will also cause random protection problems, how much air space do you have around it?

              same thing happened to me

I had mine for about 7 days and really worked that puppy in, sounded great but then the circuit started tripping, would reset, play again and all of the sudden would trip. thank God I asked for a 10 day return policy. Needless to say the dealer was not happy that I made him agree to that in the beginning because i returned 1068 too. I got the 2 channel with my denon as preamp instead and havent had any problems. To be honest I think i messed something up when hooking up my speaker cable, shorted something out.

Not a whole lot on the circuit....it does connect to 3 other plugs but only a clock radio is connected.
The house is only 3 yrs old, I built and wired it so the connections are fine.

I am not useing the 12 volt trigger.

I have it on the floor with plenty of open space for heat dissapation.

It does feel warm but not hot (i can still touch the amp without fear of burning)..I also ran a small fan to cool it just in case...but no change...

Remember I did send it in to a Rotel Dealer in toronto and they ran it for days (on an ossiliscope?) with no issues.
It has even done it when a CD had finished (an hour later) and was just sitting with the power on.

The Amp does not trip my AC circuit (does not blow the breaker in the main panel) only the Amp protection circuits.

When I state move the speakers, I mean physically move them to different locations, then reconnecting to different channels...ie left to right, front to back....
Although I tried removing my mains completely and moved my rears to the front and no protective circuit blew....(if my memory serves me right....tried so many different things, cant remember).

I currently have it plugged into the wall. No surge protectors or anything.

                Thanks for all the info....

                Cheers

                Paul

Sounds like an issue with the house supply. Possable feed back on the ground or poor main neutral (poll ground) and no earth ground or poor earth ground. the amp may be starving of current. Also check for continuity across your speaker wire's (disconnect at speaker and amp then check with an ohm meter).
                  Hope you find the cause.

I'd try taking the amp to someone elses house and hooking up and see if it trips. I agree it sounds like house wiring that's throwing feedback or possibly something from your pre/speakers that's tripping the amp.

                      Protective Circuitry still blowing RMB1095

I wired a 20 amp circuit and my amp wouldnt even power up.....replaced it with a dedicated 15 amp and the amp powered up but still problems with blowing the amps prot circ.

This has me pretty frustrated and am almost ready to get a professional in to look at everything to try to determine where the problem lies....
Could it be from my RSP976 processor delivering unclean signal to the amp? remember it is only the amp shutting down...not the circuit from my AC power panel.

                      any advice would be appreciated.

                      Cheers

In reading your post, this stood out as probably being a shorted speaker driver which throws the amp into protection mode. Since this seems confined to your mains (removing them eliminated the problem) I'd take a close look to be sure that you don't have some loose stran shorting against something that it shouldn't. Again, it may also be one of the drivers inside the speaker cabinet.

                          Hi,

Well i am having a very odd problem with my 1095.

Whenever the amp is on for some hours, dunnot know how long for sure, the protection of my left front and surround speaker are kicking in.

I dunnot misabuse the amp with playing at high volumes at least...

                          by JimPap
I was noticing the other day that my 1095 would not flash the circuit protection LCDs when coming on. Upon closer inspection, I found that the amp was staying on regardless of the 12volt trigger and/or the front power button.

This sounds to me to be an issue with contacts being stuck...

                          Hello all,

I'm a new ( and happy ) rotel user for over two months now. 1066 + 1095 feeding a pair of b&w n804 as mains, htm1 as centre and 2x705 as rears. To say that I'm enchanted with the system's performance is an understatement !

                          Hello,

Went to turn on the RMB-1095 the other day and it would not power up. Normal start-up sequence is for the power indicator to light (blue LED) after the power switch is pushed in. Next, all five channel over-current protection indicators light (red LED) and then after a few seconds...

Greetings and hope someone here can help.

I've been having this problem ever since I've owned my RMB 1095 (about 2 years) and have tried practically everything I can think of to remedy, including most recently having a dedicated 20AMP circuit installed at Rotel's recommendation directly...
