    rsp-1068 poor bass

    Hi!

I know with a subwoofer the bass from 1068 is earth-shaking, but without it and small bookshelf speakers I can't turn the bass high enough. I turned the contour LF all speakers to max and LF front speakers to max and the LF button on the front to max, but yet it still isn't good enough. Enything else I can do? Does floorstanding speakers help, or is using a sub the only solution?

You need speakers with stong bass response below 60 hz to get bass. Thats what your sub is for so why not use it?

I just think you should be able to use the same equipment with two small speakers also.
How about a firmware upgrade that makes the LF go higher than the current max?

It's not the equipment, its the speakers. Small bookshelf speakers just cannot reproduce low bass like a full range speaker or sub.

You can check and make sure your front speakers are set to LARGE and sub to NO.

The LF setting is only going to increase a small frequency range by a small Db level. If you really want to overdrive and distort the bass get an EQ.

I set the speakers back to small and mixed in the sub with crossover 40hz. Now it's there quite unnoticed and it sounds great.

Also tried to digital cable from my laptop and the built in EQ in winamp. Great bass even without sub. Thanks for the tip.

Really simple Rotel bass mangement question
              by sdecker
Can the double bass problem be solved by a new firmware upgrade or is a a design flaw that would require the units to be shipped to Rotel to be fixed.

I find it amazing that with all the owner complaining about this issue that Rotel still hasnt come out and said we made a mistake....

              Subwoofer - MAX Setting
              by Adz
              Question
I understand that when you set the Max setting on the subwoofer set-up menu, it basically sends a double bass signal - one to all speakers set to large and an identical bass signal to the subwoofer. This essentially doubles up on the bass being produced. I assume this might be worthwhile...

Hello. I have a couple of questions regarding the settings for the sub on the 1068 pre/pro.

I currently have my M&K VX-860 250 watt sub volume level set at Reference and also set to bypass its crossover settings in favor of the pre/pro. On the 1068 I have the crossover set...

I have a question regarding the Multi-inputs settings particulary the LFE Direct option on the 1098. I've read the manual but I fail to understand it's meaning. Under the Sub setting I've put the level to max(10db) under Multi-Input but when I play a SACD and press the sub button on the remote it displays...
