Hoping Class D amps will encourage more preamps

    Howdy,

I was thinking with more companies starting to create Class D amps, I'm hoping to see more Preamps/processors from companies that used to create preamps. I remember in the early 90s there were many mid range companies such as rotel making preamps. They pulled out for whatever market reasons but I think Class D amps with lower weight and less heat might encourage (along with 7.1 sound becoming more common) more preamps from more manufacturers. I could be living in my own little world but I sure hope by mid 2007 to see more preamps hitting the market.

I'm looking forward to CES this year to see what my options are.

I think we're more likely to see receivers with class d amplification, than more pre amps... Mainstream buyers will prefer a receiver to separates.

      Boe,

Rotel were working on a high end stereo pre-amp to match their RB-1092 switchig amps and replace the RC-1090... I don't know it's status or timeing but they have been working on it for a year so so so maybe in the next 6 months.

        Thanks.

When a decent preamp/processor is available that supports all the latest DTS HD and DD True HD, I'll be replacing my current preamp and amps (shifting them to the bedroom). The heat from my amps is driving me crazy and I'd love a good excuse to upgrade my preamp/processor.

A View into the Rotel 15 Series Class D Amps
          by =AirCeej=
During the process of putting another HT together, I began auditioning amps to replace a Sunfire Series 1 Load Invariant and an Anthem MCA20 – noteworthy at the respective price points in their day and for the Sunfire: novel. Appreciating the ideas and most of the execution designed into the Sunfire,...

Rotel class D amps? Compare to other ICEpower amps?
          by Holland
          Hi all,

I just found out (yes I am a bit slow) that rotel is also jumping on the ICEpower amps with its class D products. Does anyone here have experience with these ICEpowered amps from rotel?
How does the rotel class D amps sound compared to other ICEpowered amps from brands...

Class D amps, RDV-1092 power supplies
          by gianni
With all the discussion here recently regarding the RB-1091/92 and now the interest in the RDV-1092, I find one aspect curiously absent from these discussions: nobody has mentioned the fact that the RDV-1092 uses a switching power supply just like the class D amps. No more torroid.

          I...

Is Rotel phasing out all the non-Class D amps?
          by Joey_V
As the title states... is Rotel phasing out all production of Class AB amps in favor of ramping Class D production? Or are they going to produce both products and let the customer decide which to buy?

          Thanks!

Over past 8 mths have totally upgraded my HT system, which also doubles as my serious 2 channel system. Now have B&W N803 mains, HTM? center, DS7 surrounds, Sunfire architectural sub, Sunfire TGA5200 amp, Sunfire TGP5 pre/pro, modded Denon 3930ci (modded by The Upgrade Company)
