    Bi-Wiring Config for RB-1080

After owning it for 2 years I by chance noticed today ops: that my RB-1080 has 4 sets of speaker binding posts on it back panel. It is different from what shows on the Owner's Manual.

Does it mean I can do bi-wiring?

    Very strange inndeed!

yes! I believe Rotel updated the rear panel 2 years ago (?) to support bi-wiring.

If I run single wiring config (because my speakers are for single wiring only), should I bridge the binding posts on the amp side?

        Thanks.

There is no need to do that.

My first speakers when I was a teenager 30+ yrs ago were JBL L100s...$700CAN/ pair. I wonder how much that would be in todays dollars? Hand made and solid wood. My neighbours didn't like them :B -Russ

Russ, can you fill in the blanks please? I do not have the data because I am not living in North America:

                      (A) 1970's, minimum wage = CAN$ X per hour, Pair of JBL L100s equivalent of man-hours worked = 700 / X = Y hours

                      (B) 2006, minimum wage = CAN$ Z per hours times Y hours = purchase price of L100s today.

Boss- According to the CPI or Consumer Price Index, the Canadian dollar in 2005 will purchase only 1/4 of what the dollar would purchase in 1975. So with the $700 I spent on my JBL L100s in 1975 I could purchase speakers worth $2800 in today's dollars. -Russ

Only $2,800? That won't go too far today. A a pair of speaker cables perhaps?

Why does my new RB1080 have 2 sets of speaker connectors per channel????? Neither the instruction manual nor the website have been updated to show this new rear pannel configuration! Is it a biwiring thing????

Joseph Crowe sells a 3D CAD file for the baffle drawing, and then...

Hi, I've had my 600s series for a while and just noticed something today on the websites user manual section. I had them birwired since this June and just noticed the part where they showed that the gold bars or links that connect the post should be removed when biwiring. I've had my linked for about...

                              HI All,
I'm just curious how many of us have biwired our systems. Those who have done so, what are your conclusions?

My system, with 805S's and HTM4S in the front are biwired. These are only the second set of speakers I have owned that permit biwiring. The first were Apogee Calipers...

                              Hi

I have heard that this is the best forum to talk Rotel.

I am thinking of buying an used Rotel RB991 to add to my HT setup. I will use the pre-out of my Denon AVR 3805 to connect to the power amp to drive my Dynaudio Audience 82 speakers.

                              I have heard comments...
