1068 Bass Mgmt for 7.1 ins?

How does the 1068 handle Bass management for the 7.1 ins for DVD-A/SACD?

I currently use a Panasonic RP91 (w/o BM) and an Outlaw ICBM for DVD-A. This works fine, but I would like to reallocate the ICBM along with my current receiver to another room in the house. I am very happy with the RP91 and it will stay in the main rack for a long time (I love the scaling feature and nothing else compares), so please no suggestions to buy a new transport with proper BM.

Does the 1068 properly handle BM for this situation so I can retire my ICBM?

Sorry if this is already been discussed.

Like most pre/pro's and receivers there is no bass management on the anaolog inputs. It is straight passthrough other than for volume control. The only thing resembling bass management is the user selectable digital copy of the bass summed below 100Hz and sent to your sub that Rotel calls "LFE Redirect".

        rmassey,

I don't believe the bass management makes a DIGITAL copy of the analog inputs to redirect to the subs. If that would be the case then a fixed crossover of 100 hz would not be necessary. If its a digital copy you need all the ADC's and then you could use the digital processor with the variable crossovers of other options in the 1068. I think that the 100 hz filter is fixed because it's a fixed hardware analog filter.

Is the RSP-1098 sonically superior to the RSP-1068?
          by wirebrat
          Hi All,

I am a happy RSP-1068 owner. When I purchased it, I wanted the RSP-1098 but could not afford it. I now have the opportunity to upgrade for a reasonable premium. Aside from the TFT and perhaps some additional ins/outs, is there any sonic difference between the two?

          1068 video problems

Something odd occurred while setting up my 1068 I picked up the other day.

First off - I run my HDTV signal directly to a Pioneer Elite Pro-510HD (2 component video ins available).

My DVD, XBOX, and PS2 run through the 1068 and back out to the second component in on the...

I thought I would start this thread for those like me that can't follow the discussion that has gone back and forth between much more techinically literate folks. 8O

I just ordered the 1066 as it seems to be among the best at its price point. Perhaps someone could take a minute or direct...

best way to connect ICBM to 1066 w/ new firmware?
          by Chris3G
As per Dre J's bass management reports and solutions, the best way to connect the 1066 and an ICBM (not including 5.1 inputs) is to set the sub to "off" in the 1066 menu setup, sending LFE bass to the front channels, and then letting the ICBM sort it out. The downside to this setup is the...

          1055 Bass Mgmt revisited
          by hal
          (1) Given a universal player like the Denon DVD2900 with fixed crossover 80Hz for bass mgmt, is it likely preferable to perform bass mgmt on the Rotel (with adjustable crossover frequency) or to leave the BM to the Denon?

          (2) Are signals < 100 Hz fed by the RSX1055 from channels set...
