That's not unexpected as the new pre-processors, receivers, and dvd players all have scaling, according to rumours. Little use for an additional scaler if it's cheaper to buy new equipment than to add the video scaler that's unable to switch audio. -

I am on my third Denon AVR-988. It seems like the HDMI video circuit is going out each time.
Matrix switch on one HDMI port
PS3 on other HDMI port
HDMI out has audio but no video signal
