I heard today that the Rotel HDMI video scaler has been shelved

That's not unexpected as the new pre-processors, receivers, and dvd players all have scaling, according to rumours. Little use for an additional scaler if it's cheaper to buy new equipment than to add the video scaler that's unable to switch audio.

Where did you hear this from? I just talked with the tech support department yesterday and as far as they know it is still in the works.

From an authorized dealer. Rotel is worried about HDMI 1.3 and not being able to upgrade the scaler.
