    Good question

    boxer82003,

My first reaction is YES. I believe separates are the way to go versus receivers. The 1068/1075 combo is a very nice package. I also believe that your speakers will definitely sound better with this combo. However, I also thought that maybe you could spend this amount of money in a different way and possibly do better. I like the 602.5's. However, I think they lack a little in the bass area (especially for the mains). One idea would be to get the 1075 for amplification and maybe some 604's (or 704's) for your mains. This gives you some flexibility. You could create a 7.1 system and run the rear surrounds off of the 3805. Or use the 'extra' 602.5's in a different room (or sell them/trade them in). I've found even in HT, a good pair of mains is simply the correct thing to do and adds tremendously to the overall experience. Let your ears be the judge. Either way, I think you'll be happy. I hope you have a dealer that will let you demo this gear. Just my thoughts.

      I like your advice htsteve.

Upgrade speakers first to the best you can afford.

        Boxer,

Yes, the Rotel amplification is leaps and bounds above Denon, and it will make an appreciable difference. Nothing wrong with considering an upgrade on speakers too, but condisider this - better speakers require "better" power to operate well.

My Denon was rated at 105 wpc (I think). Anyway, I bought B&W 803's because the dealer said they'd work "fine" with my Denon. Got 'em home, hooked 'em up, and found the B&W 803's sounded WORSE than my simple Boston Acoustic $500/pair floor-standers. The reason : the Denon couldn't provide the proper power to the B&W's. Those same speakers powered through a Rotel 1075 (120 wpc) sounded completely different. It wasn't 15 more watts per channel that made the difference. It's the amplifier.

Long story short - Your speakers should match your electronics. As Steve suggested, something in B&W's 700 range (or lower) would be a great match for a Rotel 1075.

As for the 1068 pre/pro, I'd hate to see anyone buy one this year. Most likely within the next year, there will be a revised model that will incorporate the upcoming HDMI 1.3 format, including decoding audio for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.

1056 to 1068/1075 combo worth it?
          by Kirby
As you probably know from my other posts I have been a little peeved with my 1056 due to a snapping sound from my speakers and the video upconversion. While I have had problems, I can't live without the nice Rotel sound. I am going to return my 1056 for either a new 1056 or upgrade but it is a little...

          RSP-1068 vs Denon 3805
          by hired goon
          G'day,

Has anyone performed any head-to-head comparisons between the Rotel RSP-1068 and the Denon 3805?

I know someone with an Electrocompaniet integrated stereo amp, and they want to get into HT. This amp would be used to drive the front speakers, so the HT receiver would...

should i get RB 1080 or RB 1075 to use with denon 3805?
          by audiofan
          Hi,
I have denon 3805 and i have decided to get rotel power amp. One thing i'm confused is whether i should get 1075 or 1080. Since 3805 rated as 120wpc, does it matter if i go with RB 1080 (200 wpc). I don't know if i should worry about the wattage balance between two units. In another word,...
