    RSP - 1068 / 1066 : Progressive Scan?

My supplier of the RSP 1066, told me I need to hook up my DVD component output directly to my Plasma as the 1066 could not handle a Progressive Scan Output.

I have noticed on the 1068 back panel that there is an additional component input, but was wondering if this would handle a Progressive Scan input?

It seems a further refinement in the RSP 1068 is that there is now a zone 2 video output which the 1066 did not have. Time to trade up methinks.

All 1066's could handle a progressive scan input fine. Version one units could degrade HD component inputs but that was solved with the version 2 units. Also, unless you needed remote volume control of your zone 2 outputs, you could use the record out on the 1066 to send video over with audio. Or use zone 2 audio out and one of your record out video outputs and just switch both zone 2 and rec out to the same source.

RSP 1098 and progressive scan dvd/dvd audio players
      by Henk
The RSP 1098 TFT screen displays no video unless a usable signal is passed through the composite video connection. However, as pointed out in the RSP 1098 manual not all dvd players, set in progressive mode, output a usable composite video signal. This is true also for dvd players that play dvd audio....

      Progressive Scan DVD Player
      by junior77blue
So, if my hitachi TV upcoverts all my signals into 1080i, what's the purpose of having a progressive scan DVD player?

Wouldn't it make more sense to 'feed' the TV with a raw signal as opposed to feeding it the progressive scan signal, and then having the TV upsample that once again....

Will a progressive scan DVD player be of benefit?
      by P-Dub
From what I know, if I don't have a TV capable of receiving a progressive scan signal, a progressive scan DVD player is a waste of money.

However, with the prices coming down, should it be a consideration? I'm thinking about the cost of the Tosh 3750, which I've seen for C$350 and the...

Are progressive scan dvd players on the way out ?
      by George Bellefontaine
Pretty much all the new hdtvs and digital front projectors coming out do internal progressive scanning, some sporting such well known names as Faroudja. What does that mean for the spate of progressive scan dvd players hitting the market ? I suppose it depends on which component has the best progressive...
