    Rotel Date of Manufacture/Firmware Version

    Hello,
    Can the date of manufacture and the firmware version of a piece of Rotel equipment be determined from the serial number? If so, how?

      I'm in the process of trying to upgrade my firmware to the latest version of a RSX-1065. On that unit if you hold the mute button for 5 seconds the firmware version appears in the display. It's most likely the same on all units.

          Correct, all but the very first 1065's will show the version is you hold down mute. I believe the serial number does have a build date coded in it, but nothing about the firmware.

          In addition, there's a good chance it's been updated at some point in its life. Best bet is to call Rotel with the serial number and see if they can tell you what firmware 'originally' came on it.

              You can also hook it up to your PC and just run the update program. When updating my 1068, it didn't need the old firmware version.
