    RB1050 power ratings

in the online brochure it states that the RB1050 has 50wpc
in the online manual it states 70wpc
    both at 8 ohms.

    which one is it?
where do you guys get the ratings for 4ohms for all the rotel amps?
what rating does the 1050 have on 4 ohms?
does it mean that since rotel does not publish 4 ohm ratings that they don't want us to use the amps for 4ohms?

I need an amp for pipe-in music that has a low wattage because my volume controls can only handle 30wRMS max (sonance VC30RIM)
I intended to get 1 or 2 cheap behringer amps, but those may have too much power.

rb1050 is moot for me ... since the local dealer doesnt carry the 1050.
they do however carry the RB03 which is very similar to the 1050

so the same questions still apply :T

what IS the difference between the RB03 and 1050?

It's my understanding that it's 70 watts per channel. At least that's what my owner's manual says.

At 4ohm the the wattage is usually not quite double.. Estimate 120 watts or so.

Those sonance volume controls will take a lot more then 30 watts. We probably have 1000 or so of those out there, and more then half have 100+ watts behind them. I think the rating is more of a full frequency constant rating, like speakers.

hi kevin d, do you deal with sonance VCs?
I was afraid because in the manual, it said 30w RMS max.
I'll be burned at the stake if I cause a fire at my dad's house.

as to my DUH! 1050 question ... found this on the rotel website faq.

Can the RB 1050 handle a nominal impedance below 4 ohms?
No – the RB 1050 is specified to be stable for a nominal impedance of 4 ohms minimum.

What is the RB 1050’s power output into 4 ohms?
The RB 1050 will output approximately 100 watts into a 4 ohm load.

I just got a 1050 a few weeks ago to drive my KEF bookshelf (8 ohm) rear surrounds.

We used to, we moved to Speakercraft now. You won't have a problem with the 1050 on some VC30's. Wouldn't cause a fire even if you did.

                    thanks a lot kevin!

I plan on using 7 pairs of speakers which are:
                    6 pairs of JBL SP6C 8ohm 80w speakers with 6 Sonance VC30RIM
1 pair of speakers - looking for a cheap one ... 8 ohms (no VC) - that I intend to put in the control area to help prevent someone cranking the volume (because if he cranked it, the speakers there will give the person a sense of volume out in the other rooms, and at least know what was playing)

I plan to use the Rotel RB-03 to play 4 pairs of speakers which the VC's will make the amp see 4 ohms.

2 pairs with VC's and 1 pair with NO VC will make the HK3380/3480 stereo receiver also see 4 ohms.

here's what I have bought so far:

what is the difference between the 1050 and the rb03? aesthetics only? the 1050 is also more expensive.

I have an rb1050 just laying around right now and was contemplating adding it to my rsx1056.The rsx1056 is rated at 100x2,the rb1050 70x2.Would it even be worth the trouble adding the 1050 to the rsx1056 for the fronts.Would i notice anything being the amp is rated lower.I just hate to get to the rear...

I have an rsx 1056 and an RB1050 I am using for zone 2. Would I get any benefit from redirecting the front amps to zone 2 and using the 1050 to power the fronts? Speakers are B&W 685's. All opinions welcome, thanks.

                      Hi Rotelians,

as you already know from my profile, I run a 1055 with four huge IQ System300T and a big Boston Center VR14 from the THX series. As I like to wish to deactivate the center in 5 Channel stereo easiliy and wish to give my RSX 1055 power supply more power for the IQ's, I would...

RB amps - ratings @ less than 8 ohms?

                      Hi all-

This may be a really dumb question, but I just can't seem to find the answer. I'm interested in adding an amp to my set up as I'm in the process of purchasing a pair of speakers rated at 4 ohms. My receiver, a Denon 3805, is pretty beefy, but I still feel as though the speakers'...
