    RB-1070 repair

This is the email I got from Rotel about my RB-1070 repair:

Here is what was tested and replaced on your unit.

REPLACED 2 OPEN FUSES (F602 & F604). CHECKED THD @ FULL POWER. CHECKED/ADJUSTED BIAS LEVELS. CHECKED BRIDGED MONO OPERATION. CHECKED 12 VOLT TRIGGER CIRCUIT IN & OUT

At least it was just fuses and nothing major. All under warranty. I do have to pay for shipping though - $48. I now have a back-up for my RB-1092.

That is my plan this weekend. Unfortuantely my pre does not have a balance on it so I will just have to hook each up independantly.

Looking forward to your impressions. Don't remember which pre you have. Only thing you need to do to get a good a/b is make sure you level match as closely as possible.

My pre was RC-1070, now RC-1090. The RC1070 & RB-1070 will be relagated to Bedroom dutry. To get a level match will I need a SPL meter?

You could use an SPL meter or measure the voltage at the speaker. If you use an SPL meter, it would probably be easier by using a test tone of some sort, perhaps a warble tone such as those found on many test CD's.

If a test CD is not available you could use music - just find a slower passage, preferably with a solo insrument and measure both amps at exactly the same point in the recording. Use the 'slow' setting - it's much easier to read. Try to match them within 1/2 a db or less.

              RMB-1095 channel dead
              by Ray F.
The right front channel on my Rotel RMB-1095 amplifier stopped working about a week ago. I thought I had noticed an electrical component burning smell the day before, but could not locate the source. When I took the cover off, I found a big pile of cat hair inside. I suspect this caused an electrical...

As a new member, thought I would make my first post after checking the archives. I want to replace my fuses in my older RB-980BX power amp. Does anyone know the values of all five (5) fuses?? If so, I would really appreciate the help. I have checked online and cannot even find...

After researching my convergence problem on my 43UWX10B I decided to call a professional to change out my convergence IC's and any other resistors/parts necessary.

The tech only changed out the IC's to the original 110 series. I inquired about the 150 or 180...

              RB1070 V's RB1080 any diff
              by bleeding ears
              Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the difference soundwise between the RB1070 and the RB1080?

At nearly double the price, does the RB1080 sound any better than the RB1070? (RB1080 = $1600 V's RB1070 =$900) Thats recommended full retail prices in Australia.
