    More upgrade questions....

    My current setup is:
    Rotel RC-1070 pre
    Rotel RB-1070 amp
    Rotel RCC-1055 changer
    Aiwa XC-R700 CD burner
    Denon DVD 1000
    B&W 804N mains
    B&W ASW800 sub

    Considering upgrade still, need comments/suggestions. Options below:

    1) RC-1090 pre & RB-1080 amp - $1900

    2) RB-1092 amp (use current pre) - $2500
    Haven't heard - no demo unit to listen to.

    3) Classe separates (really can't afford the $8300 for pre and amp)

      Uhmmm Classe Sparates!?!?!? Need you say more?!?!

      Until you've heard the RB-1092, I would wait on making any choice (unless going for Classe) until you hear it and then make a choice.

      Adding a good amp, might help...but it might not be the sound your looking for. If it isn't, then you need to start looking towards companies like Classe, Krell, Bryston, NuForce, etc.
      Digital Audio makes me Happy.

          Being a 2ch audio fan I bought a pair of B&W 804S. Now it’s the time to buy some proper amplification to drive them so to get the best out of them. Classe cp-500 & ca-2200 look and sound wonderful and I’m sure they can make 804S sing. BUT is it really a fine match? I mean 804S cost 4.000...

          What do you use between your Classe PRE/CD/AMP RCA or XLR?

          My distance from the CD to AMP is only 1m, so I am tempted to use RCA, however I have heard XLR can give 2-3db more output.

          pre/amp/TT help

          I have a Rotel RC1090 pre, RB1092 amp (500w/ch) and a Rega P5 TT with the optional TTPSU (power supply). On the pre, 7 o'clock position is '0' and the 5 o'clock position is '10'. When I get the volume to about the 10 o'clock position I get feed back through the tonearm. What is a good solution here...

          receiver + amp still better than pre/pro + amp?

          Why would using a pre/pro + amp still deliver "better" sound quality than a receiver + amp? If a amp was connected to a receiver, wouldn't the onboard amp on the receiver basically be disabled? if this is the case why is it still better to use a dedicated pre/pro than a receiver?

          I have been auditioning amps to improve my two channel system. At the Classe, B&W and McIntosh dealer, unfortunately, the dealer's 803Ds were damaged, and I (had to) listen to the 800Ds instead (these are great speakers). They were using a Meridian pre-pro.
