Good review on a great piece of equipment. Since I'm a Club Parasound moderator, what I found interesting is that they mentioned the Parasound Halo C1, with a 5000 Pound price tag. HOLY CRAP! That's about $8,000 USD, whereas here stateside the C1 retail price is $6,000 USD. I feel for our UK brothers!

        Chris,

Feel even more for your Aussie mates. The Parasound C1 retails for $AUD 15,999 or $US 12,000 - talk about extortion.

This makes the retail on the Rotel RSP 1098 of $AUD $4,999 a relative bargain

Wow geoff, I thought we in Europe where screwed by the electronics companies, but you guys are screwed big time. 12000 USD for the C1 is just silly.

            :wtf:

No wonder... I'd go for the Rotel there, too!

Yep, in the UK for the price of a C1 I could get TWO 1098's and have enough change for 100 DVD's.....

C1 therefore never entered my 1098 buying thought process.

The C2 is a lot cheaper and still sounds the same as the C1. Sure you don't get the TFT, but who cares

The 1066 is by far *NOT* a 1098 without TFT. However looking at what the 1068 will offer it could be the cheaper 1098 without TFT (and also without a few extra's).

My comparision of RSP 1098 to Denon AVC A1SE+ (AVR5803) (long)
                          by Ossi
So the last 2 days I have been listening intensively to the RSP 1098 and my “old” Denon AVC A1SE+ which is more known as AVR 5800+ (with upgrade) in the US.
This comparison does only represent personal view of both units side by side. However I thought it might be interesting to let you guys...

I have had my 1098 for about a week now, but because of my family (3 young kids) and my job I have only had about 4 hours of real setup and listening time, so this is not meant of be an indepth review. But before I get started on the 1098 I would like you know a little about where I came from so you...

                          Hi,

As promised, HERE is V4.0 of the "Wish-list" for the Rotel RSP-1098 (Updated Sunday 7 March 2004).

                          Some key points:
                          • It now incorporates the RSP-1068 and the RSX-1067, with the latest version of firmware for these.

Looks like The Perfect Vision magazine carries an full fledged equipment report on the RSP-1098 in their latest issue (Nov/Dec 2003). I haven't received the copy yet. Hopefully, the review would be more in-depth than the one featured in Sound & Vision magazine.

                          Of course, the reviews...
