    971 vs 1070 pre amps

I currently have a 971 pre amp. I have a chance to pick up a 1070 pre and was wondereing how much of an upgrade this would be and if it is worth doing.
    Thanks,

Apart from the looks, I would say very little. Although the 971 is somewhat older, it is still a competent pre-amp. I had a RC-972 and compared it with the 1070. The 1070 has a tiny bit lower noise level, but apart from that I could not hear any difference.

See if you can try it and compare it to your current amp.

I ended up with the RSP-1068, since the 5.1 input sounded mutch the same as the 972.

The only upgrade is a RC-995 ( without a doubt the best pre-amp) and the RC-1090. However the 995 was equally good and about 1/2 the price...
