This is what I would llike to see...

One really minor function that drives me insane is the arbitrary and ambiguous volume number that rotel has for all of its pre/pro and AVR's. Why cant they just use the +/- db settings? I honestly would pay money if I could get maybe some kind of firmware patch for this. Or maybe its more complicated then a firmware patch...but none the less i would till pay money for this.

setting and calibrating everyhting would be that much easier and headache free. i just dont see why they dont do this? can someone please possibly bring this to the attention of the head honchos at rotel?

What you're not seeing is that due to different amplifiers, speakers, room size, room shape, recording levels, speaker wire, & everthing else that's not the preamp will effect how loud the sound is.. Even break-in can effect relative loudness. With all this included, a +/- db scale would be just as ambiguous..

I'm also confused why calibrating it would be easier.. My meter tells me that I'm plus or minus 'x' db. It's going to tell me that regardless of whether the volume says 75 or -30db..

Kevin 'maybe we need amps that go to 11' D.

RSP-1098 Firmware updates - any new news?
      by kneptune
Anyone aware of any new news on a pending firmware/feature update for the 1098?

There have been rumblings for months that a significant update is about to be released, but yet nothing, other than the recent v2.1.3 which only added a couple of small changes.

      I'm hoping...

      RSP-1098 Firmware 2.1.2 Now Available
      by Aussie Geoff
      Hi,

As pointed out by Dr Boom in his OSD thread, Rotel have just (very quietly) released 2.1.2 of the firmware for the RSP-1098 in a change to their H20 update here. If you have succesfuly completed the EEPROM update before you don't need to do it again - just the (much easier and safer)

      Calibrating Mitsubishi 52" DLP
      by hemifever
I had my 52" DLP delivered yesterday. The Tweeter (Now Audio) person set it up and put all the color bars at level 31. He said that's the default they set it to for a good picture. I know everyone is different, but is there a documented color level chart for calibrating this for special "movie...

Be very very careful when doing firmware updates on a C1/C2
      by Scarp
As the subject says ... be very careful when doing firmware upgrades or actually do not do this yourself.

      Here is my little story:
For some investigation for the Dolby Digital EX problems, I had contact with someone from Parasound. However since I had an older firmware version...
