The owners manual for the RC-1070 does not mention the ability to control the RT-1080. Also, can I hook up a cable signal to the RT-1080?

Sorry I missed this. Yes the 1070's remote will control the 1080 fine. As far as connecting cable to the 1080, I wouldn't recommend it. While I've actually had this pick up some stations some times, there could be voltage on the line that would damage the tuner. Stick with a good FM antenna (or 2 since the 1080 allows for dual tuners)

Nope, it's an A or B thing. Usually a long range, highly directional antenna to pick up one particular station far away and then another omni-directional unit for the all the local stations.

I've been looking at buying a Rotel tuner RT-1080 but at $750 CDN it seems that there might be better options out there!
My only beef is that i'd like the system to match.

As some of you know I just bought a RT-1080 tuner. I received it friday and have been working on a program to control it and view it. So far I have gotten the text from the display screen working pretty well. You see just what you see on the actual unit but there are a few bugs.
