I did the upgrade before I even installed it so I never heard the previous version. The promised improvements in Dolby mono were sufficient inducement for me to do the upgrade.Comment

As pointed out by Dr Boom in his OSD thread, Rotel have just (very quietly) released 2.1.2 of the firmware for the RSP-1098 in a change to their H20 update here. If you have succesfuly completed the EEPROM update before you don't need to do it again - just the (much easier and safer)... -
