I had no problem playing DVD-R's on my 1040. Sounds like something is wrong with the burner, maybe it doesn't automatically finalize the disc?

Disks won't play in a standard DVD player until they have been finalized. That would be the first thing I would check.

You have to burn from your PC, not from a Recorder, the media on these are ussually slower than the ones you burn on your PC. Try getting Ridata or Taiyu Yudens and Verbatims and that should solved your problem. Here's a DVD media that will give your Rotel DVD players a problem eg. TDK- they skip and freeze, Pro-Disc is another bad media for Rotel. There are cheap ones that certainly work good, but those 2 stay away.

I tried again and the dvdr dosen't play, but plays on a $150 dvd player. In fact, the dvdr plays on all the dvd players in my home, except the Rotel, I think I will return it for a differnet one. It doesn't make sense.

                Dear Joy and Boombox,

What are you using to burn the DVD-R?
