    RX-1050 Stereo Receiver Pre-Outs

I am posting this to the forum instead of trying Rotel tech support in case the answer is useful to someone else.

I am a 2 channel kind of guy and will be for some time to come. I have a RX-1050 Stereo Receiver (100wX2) that I like a lot . I am thinking of getting another amp and using the RX-1050 as a pre-amp. My questions ....

    1) are the pre-outs balanced or unbalanced?
    2) the manual says that there are jumpers that can be removed to disable the amp if you are using the pre-outs only. If the amp is disabled, does this reduce the power consumption of the unit as a whole?
    3) I see the preamp output voltage is 1.0 V (160 mV Input). What is the impedance?

Any help appreciated. If I don't get an answer here, I'll try Rotel tech support and post their answer here if I get one.

Well I've answered my own question in another forum. You can tell if they are banaced or not by the connector. Plain RCA connectors mean they are unbalanced. Also if I remove the jumpers to use the pre-out I have found that I can determine whether the amp has gone into standby by measuring the voltage across the 12v trigger. If I measure 12v then it has gone into standby. What the power consumption would be at that point is not clear - it is 300 w at full power. Anybody know? Doesn't seem to be many stereo folks in this forum.

the over all power consumption will go down but to what extent I'm not really sure.

I would also think that the rotel receiver only has unballenced outputs (regular RCA's) but that's fine considering the short distances most interconnects have to travel in our world (non professional)
