    1055 power consumption

The power consumption listed for the RSX-1055 is 450 Watts.

    Two questions:

    1. Is the 450 Watts consumption rated when the amps are at peak operating levels (ie a full blast dynamic musical passage or explosion scene in a movie)?

    2. Could anyone hazard a guess what the power consumption of this unit would be if it was being used only as a pre-pro? Would it be drawing more power than say a 1066? I'm wondering if the amp section is still being "powered up", and thus consuming additional watts.

If there are no speakers connected then the amps shouldn't use anything, sinnce they are probably AB class amps.

The 450 watts is only if you drive the unit to its maximum, which you will rarely do anyway (and kill the unit in the process).

I guess it won't do much more than a 1066 when no speakers connected. Maybe a bit, but not much.

      hi there,

i saw only 50 watts consumption with 5 channel using at increased volume.
i think this is a good amplifer construction, hehehe.
