    Hot 1068!

    hi
i am getting concerned about the heat of my new 1068. you could literally fry an egg on the top of it and i am not sure if that is normal. it is much hooter than my 1075 amp or any other component in my rack. any help would be appreciated.

It's normal for the 1068 to get hot. It's doing a lot in a small space, and it's working at full tilt reguardless of how quiet you have the volume.

As a general rule, if you can put your hand on it and not have to immediately remove it it's fine. If it's literally too hot to touch, you may have some ventilation issues. Where is it in your rack and how much room does it have?

    Thanks,

    Kevin D.

well it is well ventilated, i have an open rack. i don't have to remove my hand straight away, it's not that hot. i guess from your description it is fairly normal then. thanks.

It happened to my 1068 too. But somebody told me to switch off Zone 2 which I did accidentally press from the remote without knowing it and it fix the problem.

Exactly, had it myself too. Sounds like an inactive zone2 option. Just de-activate the zone2 and your 1068 won't be getting that hot anymore

            RSP-1068 Runs Hot?
            by RAS
I've been enjoying my 1068 for a couple weeks now, and continue to tweak and adjust various elements of my new system.

One thing I've noticed is that the 1068 is quite hot to the touch after operating for a couple hours. This is a bit of a surprise being a pre/pro only. And all amps are...

Title pretty much says it all. Whenever I see a thead about a rotel component running hot I always check my 1068 and sure enough its always hot to the touch. When the weather is hot it gets hot enough where I wouldnt want to keep my hand on it for any length of time (my apartment has terrible air...

            RSP 1068 Trouble
            by mhoyt
            Hi,

I am new to HTGuide so I apologize if this is a re-run of an older thread.

I have a Rotel RSP-1068 that I purchased a few years ago. Its suddenly having a lot of problems. The Front L/R channels are dead and occasionally it appears to just lose sync with the audio source...

1068 runs too hot - worried!
            by bluesfan
Why does the 1068 gets so hot? After 1 hour music and 3 hours movie at around 40db the top is so hot you can't keep your hand on it.

It must be cooking the components in there and heading for a limited life.

Is this normal? If so it's not good and bad design. Not...
