    RSP-1068 Runs Hot?

I've been enjoying my 1068 for a couple weeks now, and continue to tweak and adjust various elements of my new system.

One thing I've noticed is that the 1068 is quite hot to the touch after operating for a couple hours. This is a bit of a surprise being a pre/pro only. And all amps are in a different area.

While my 1068 is not sitting in the open, it is in a rack with good space all around it. I've also got a Papst exhaust fan that's moving quite a bit of warm air out of the rack.

Is this OK for the 1068, or should I have some direct airflow over the top of it?

    Thanks!

    Bob

Its perfectly normal for it to run faily warm to the touch...in fact my 1098 runs much hotter then the 1075 power amp below it!

Ditto Andrew. They should run warm at most, never hot.

        Welcome to Club Rotel Bob.

I concur as well, warm to the touch, but not hot. If it is running hot you may have ventilation issues.

Hey there Will, how are you?

        Regards,

        Azeke

Title pretty much says it all. Whenever I see a thead about a rotel component running hot I always check my 1068 and sure enough its always hot to the touch. When the weather is hot it gets hot enough where I wouldnt want to keep my hand on it for any length of time (my apartment has terrible air...

1068 runs too hot - worried!
              by bluesfan
Why does the 1068 gets so hot? After 1 hour music and 3 hours movie at around 40db the top is so hot you can't keep your hand on it.

It must be cooking the components in there and heading for a limited life.

Is this normal? If so it's not good and bad design. Not...

              Which Amp Runs Cooler : RB-980BX or RB-1070 ?
              by FernandoF
I've recently purchased a Rotel RSX-1056 and got surprised at how hot it runs ! Ok, I have Dynaudio 52SE's which are 4 ohms and 86dB/w.m inefficient, but I wasn't expecting so much heat to be generated. The receiver is placed on the top of a very wide rack, so there is nothing obstructing the covers....

              Hooked up the 1068/1075 yesterday.

Initially had the units unboxed and setup at the dealer. At the dealer they
were dead quiet. At my place, there is a slight hum (6" from the speakers).
I'll track down the ground loop in due time.

              Initial impressions:...
