FRQ DIR problem on RR1050 remote

Recently, my RR1050 remote has displayed "FRQ DIR" and no buttons work. I tried pressing the reset, preload and clear buttons, but only the reset seems to do anything. The LCD screen flashes, but the same message keeps coming up. Has anyone encountered this? Any suggestions?

Have you checked the 'play' button for being stuck? Might take the remote apart and see if anyone has spilled something on it messing up that button.

I thought about that, but I can't see how to take the remote apart.

Take the bottom sliding cover and pull it down fast. It should pop off and reveal two screws. Sould be able to unscrew those and pop the top of the remote off.

Thanks, are there any other hidden screws. I took off the two screws, but the top still seems to be secured a little further up. I have tried a lot of brute force but don't want to break the top.

          Thanks

Never actually tried to take it apart! I'll take a look here in a second.

Ok.. I give up.. I had always assumed it should snap off once the screws were out. You should be able to get Rotel to exchange it.

Funny, but all that attempted prying to separate the back and front of the remote has somehow fixed the problem.

                Thanks!
