    RSX-1055 and lip sync issues?

    Hi all,

I've just bought a RSX-1055 that I'm using as a pre-pro - I've "down-graded" from a Meridian 861v2 processor, since I needed some cash due to my recent engagement! First impressions in my own room are that it is amazingly close to the Meridian. So close as to not concern me.

I have until Friday to get a full refund on this, and on sound wise I certainly won't be taking this back, but my new projector (as I told my fiance, the Rotel and the projector is only 50% of what I raised from selling the Meridian) - a Sanyo PLV-Z2 - will not be here before then. And the lack of a lip sync option (being able to delay all channels by X ms) is really worrying me.

Has anyone noticed any lip sync issues with running a progressive scan image to a LCD projector with this receiver? My DVD player uses Faroudja DCDi, and my viewing distance is about 17 foot from the screen.

    Thanks for any info,
    David.

PS: I currently run interlaced from S-Video to my current LCD projector - a 5 year old 640x480 Sharp that only takes S-Video or composite, and it doesn't do deinterlacing or inverse telecine etc.

    Hi,

I am using a plv z1 in conjunction with a rsx1055. Thus far I have not noticed any (severe) lip sync problems(interlaced and progressive ntsc and pal). That said: because the 1055 misses out on an option to alter this, the problem is really dependent of the dvd player you are using. For instance: lip sync problems on a denon 2800 (which I used for a couple of months)were pretty severe. My arcam dv88 plus, however, gives no problems at all.

Good luck with your decision!(always nice to know that people also choose Rotel when they wish to “downgrade”) .

    Jurgen.

I haven't noticed any lip-synch issues with the following configuration:
Sony VPL-VW10HT projector (LCD), fed a 1080i, 720p or XGA signal from an HPTC running the Theatertek DVD player (with an M-audio Delta 410 sound card).

I sometimes experience lip-synch with HDTV, as some stations are pretty bad at it (the delay can reach a second on some shows, until someone notices it and corrects the problem!)

Actually, it is there, its just not where it makes sense to be. I had an issue w/ lip synch problems and dtses signals. Its under Sub Delay. You can do + and - delay.

btw, let me know about that Z2, looks like a great unit.

I'm running a 1098 with a 1HD and don't see any lip sync problems (although the 1098 can correct for that) I never noticed it with my 1055 either so I wouldn't worry about it.

Sikoniko: Where do I find this setting? I've had a good look around and can't find it.

I was playing with the hidden config menu on my DVD player tonight (a Meridian 598DP, though I might sell that too) and found a Progressive Audio Delay yes/no setting. It looks like this will delay the DD/DTS stream by the same time that the Faroudja progressive chip delays the video by. This would help me should I have an issue too.

            Cheers, David.

If I have time I'll look tonite. Its under the sub setup though. there is a delay for DD/DTS.

Its under Sub Level Menu option. For me, DTSES is off, so I change the DTS option to -2 and it fixed it.

I have a Toshiba SD-220E DVD player and a Panasonic PT-AE100 LCD projector. I have the DVD hooked up with component directly to the projector and with digital coax to the 1055. I haven't noticed any lip sync problems on any sound format, apart from when the DVD software is faulty.
