Has anyone figured out how to program the Rotel remote RR-1050 for use on the DishNetwork receivers? The DISH units generally take a UHF signal, but I think maybe you can switch them for IR somehow. Anyone had success with this? I'd love to use my Rotel remote for everything. thanks.

Are you certain it is RF vs IR? That would be a new one. I have yet to see a frequency that the 1050 wouldn't accept, including some components newer than the 1050. -
What model receiver? There are plenty of models that only come with a RF remote. Some receivers (811,921, etc) have the ability to spit the IR codes out of the front of the receiver to make up for the RF only remotes.

Teach Remote Feature
With L211 software and later, the DISH 921 includes a “Teach Remote” feature that allows it to receive commands from the UHF Pro remote, and echoes those commands in infrared via the IR blast to a nearby learning remote.
Please note:
• Only commands used for the DISH 921 receiver will be echoed back.
• After teaching a learning remote, if the receiver’s remote address is changed, each command of the learning remote must be re-taught so that the addresses match.
• Some learning remotes may not be capable of learning from the DISH 921 IR commands.
• Not all “universal” remotes are learning remotes.
• Use the remote-to-remote distance specified in the learning remote’s user guide as the distance to locate the learning remote from the receiver’s IR blast. In some cases, it may be necessary to increase or decrease the distance for optimal performance.
Procedure
1. Using the DISH 921 remote control, choose MENU, (6) System Setup, (5) Diagnostics.
2. If your receiver does not have the Teach Remote option in the System Diagnostics Tests screen, turn off the receiver and take the latest software download.
3. In System Diagnostics Tests, move the highlight to Teach Remote and press SELECT on the remote control.
4. Review the “Warning” screen that states that a press of a front panel button must be used to exit “Teach Remote” mode. Select Help for more information or select Yes to continue.
5. While in SAT mode, each valid button press on the Dish 921 remote control will cause the receiver to display “Remote Control Button Pressed.” Use your learning remote according to its User Guide to receive the infrared command being sent from the satellite receiver. If a button is pressed on the Dish 921 remote control that is not used for the DISH 921 receiver, the command will be ignored and no message will be displayed.
6. When completed, exit “Teach Remote” mode by either pressing any front panel button, or leaving the receiver alone for at least three minutes. NOTE: Even if the receive front panel buttons are locked, you can still exit “Teach Remote” mode by pressing a front panel button; the front panel locks will continue to operate.

OK, I tried it and it gives me an ERROR message on the rotel remote.
I am holding both remotes close (3-6") to and pointing at the 921 receiver and on the rotel remote I press "learn" + "v1" + "power", then press the "sat" + "power" button on the satellite remote.... either it responds "NO DATA" or "ERROR"

Just tried it and it does work.. A couple of things. The Dish remote is still just RF, so it doesn't need to be close to the receiver or the 1050. Plus the dish remote is all ready in the SAT mode, so you don't have to hit SAT before each button press. I held the 1050 about 1-2" away from the three circles on the the lower right of the receiver. I pressed the button I wanted to learn, and then hit the matching button on the dish remote. It takes the 921 a second to fire the code out, but the 1050 will flash OK! when it receives it.

Just yesterday my RR-1050 remote for my RSP-1068 started acting up.
When editing a label for a function on the remote, various characters on the remote display will cause other items to appear faintly (like the learn and edit icons) or faint lines through the main characters to appear... -
I dropped my RR 1050 remote the other night.. 8O It still works however there is a chunk of plastic that broke off on the front where you point the remote at the processor.
I was wondering if a little model glue wouldnt hurt to keep the piece from falling out? Any suggestions to repair... -

Hi guys, I finally got moved into the new house this weekend and spent the better part of the weekend (much to my wife's dismay) hooking up the HT. I have not had a chance to calibrate anything yet, but sat down a few times to try to watch some things on the TV, just to test drive the HD cable.

On my RR-1050 remote, I can press and hold any of the input buttons (i.e. CD, TUN, V1, V2, etc) and the RSP-1098 will switch to that input. However, V3 on the remote does not do that. It is the only button that will not transmit an input change on the RSP-1098. Is there a way to fix this?
