    Current issue

    My system consists of:
    Rotel RC-1070 pre
    Rotel RB-1070 amp
    Rotel RCC-1055 CD changer
    B&W Nautilus 804
    B&W ASW 800 sub (1000 watts)

Last night while having friends over and blasting the system I noticed the lights would dim slightly when the sub would hit hard. Should I be concerned? Any easy remedy?

Not too much... it doesn't mean that the amps are lacking energy.

Not too easy... you could have an electrician run independant outlets for your system only. At least one for the sub and another for the amp. It would help, because your lights must share the same wire run as your systems outlets.

Thanks Jim777. I did not experience this until after the sub was added.

The interesting thing about electricity is that the power system in your house doesn't have any reserves. So when more power is needed it get's pulled from where it can. Your amps, however, do have reserves so they are just pulling to replenish them.

A lot of times, the lights in a room are powered off of the same circuit as the plugs. So Jim's suggestion of having a dedicated outlet should solve the problem.

Nuforce - Leave the sub, take the amp!

No, we didn't watch The Godfather. However, we did kick off a day-long audio session with some fantastic cannolis (thanks Jim). Furthermore, we all wrapped up the day with the same thought in mind - leave the sub, take the amp! The Nuforce Reference 9 amps to be specific. Before I go further, let me...

help with hum when connecting second sub
          by Adam321
          Hello,

I built a new sub which uses a pro amplifier. I decided I wanted to reconnect my old Velodyne sub back up as well to improve headroom. I used a y-adapter at the input of the proamp to daisy chain over to the old sub.

When I first turned everything back on I was...

          Hi!
Thanks for taking time to read my post. I am building a house, and in it will be a home theater. My low voltage guy installed the wiring, and told me my sub woofer outlets would be coax. Well, my existing out of the box HT system has a regular powered sub, connecting with speaker wire. How...

          by Sonnie Parker
I have spoken with Behringer and they have shown serious interest in designing a replacement for the BFD that is more suited to the consumer market. As many of you may already know... the DSP1124 has been discontinued. The replacement FBQ2496 only offers 1 preset and still doesn't get us many of the...

          Hello..

Just stumbled across this forum having scaled many and cursed Google for leading me up many garden paths.
