    RDV 1060 and Transparent Cable

I have a new RDV 1060. I have used a XXXX brand cable for the digital coax connection to a 105eh6 receiver. The vendor tells me they ususally sell a $300 XXXXX brand cable that he swears noticeably improves the sound. Given the snake oil around cables and audio and video, does anyone have experience with that cable or a similar one improving the audio out from the 1060?

The shop will loan me the cable to try, but I thought I would also ask here to see what experiences others have had.

    Thanks

Yeah, if any cables start talking, get rid of them quick!

Seriously though, you can check out the exact rules if you like so that there are no misunderstandings.

You should search for 'silver digital magic' to turn up one of Aussie Geoff's threads. Pretty informative. Also, check out cat cables - a sponsor of this board. Good luck.

I used to think that... And some people still do. But thankfully I was convinced by a great local dealer to take home several cables for a weekend and compare for myself. Which I did (with my family as the "blind testers"). I found we could all heard signficant differences between coaxial cables for reasons that escape me... After trying lots of cables I found that one made by Doug (owner of this forum) from pure silver was by far and away the best value I could find (I needed to spend 4-5 times at much to equal it).... (Try this thread on "silver digital magic" from the search suggested above - you will see that lots of others have also had good experiences).

Bottom line though - I recommend that the only way to be sure is to try for yourself, listen to a few and see if you can hear any difference... Then make your own decision...

Hot wheels, the sold silver silver digital magic, whatever we want to call it today is still (my sigh here) not on the web site. But they are available.

I am the owner of CAT, and yes, I set the policies on cables around these parts. Generally, the clubs are not for cable talk anyway, and even if they are web brands competitive to CAT discussions are discouraged. Store brand cable talk is moderately tollerated, to a point. But we do ask that members respect the fact CAT helps keep the doors open on this joint. So, it's important to be cognisent of that fact.

Please email me or post to the CAT forum and I'll be glad to assist.

                Thanks,
                Doug

Rotel RDV-1060 vs SoundBlaster X-Fi ExtremeMusic
                  by slaikan
I decided to upgrade my 5 Year old SB Live sound card in my PC to a X-Fi ExtremeMusic. Made a huge difference to how my PC speakers sounded. I then was interested to see how it compared to a RSP-1068/RDV-1060. I've been lurking around on these forums and have noticed a few people have gone the PC audio...

I've completed the setup in which I ended up getting a B&W CM4 with the CM2 and CMC to match with the 1056 and 1060, the question now is with the digital coax, it was a freebie Audioquest that the dealer gave me. It has been almost 3 weeks and the speakers are sounding better, I am using audio for...

                  Hi all,

Just purchased my new addition. After 1,5 hours of extensive comparisson between the RDV-1060 and the RDV-1050, I took home the RDV-1050:

Selection method could not have been more perfect as I brought with me the same movie twice, connected both players to the same...

                  Hi all!

I'm about to get a 'matching' DVD-player (I stopped waiting for the new generation of DVD players from Rotel the moment I heard the anticipated prices...).

I was hoping to recieve some answers on the following questions:

                  1) Is there any reason for...

Anyone having problems with their RDV-1060?
                  by aramb
I have had my RDV-1060 since they first came out. A couple of days ago, I started having a problem playing some new DVD-Audio discs that I had purchased. I thought maybe it was a defective couple of discs, as all my other DVD-As still played fine. Then my wife said that some discs sounded like they...
