Anyone having problems with their RDV-1060?

I have had my RDV-1060 since they first came out. A couple of days ago, I started having a problem playing some new DVD-Audio discs that I had purchased. I thought maybe it was a defective couple of discs, as all my other DVD-As still played fine. Then my wife said that some discs sounded like they were "skipping" occasionally.

Today I turned on the unit, and the green ROTEL display that comes on my TV when I first turn on the unit was GREY!!! I thought there was a problem with my projector. After trying various things, I found I could get no Progressive Scan signal at all out of the Rotel. All the color is as if there is no GREEN. When I switch to S-Video on my projector, it is only receiving a MONOCHROME signal from the Rotel. Incidentally, all my other DVD players and cable TV still function properly through the same inputs on the projector, so it is definitely a RDV-1060 problem. I will be contacting my dealer about a replacement unit. Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with their DVD player taking a dump.

I wasn't too pleased, as I just got a bunch of new DVDs for Christmas that I had hoped to watch today!!!

I remember reading something a while back about the 1060 changing some setting which made the video display go "wonky" and I beleive lose all colour info. They discovered all you had to do was change the setting back and it fixed the problem. More of an annoyance/inconvenience than anything. Try looking back for threads on the 1060 or hopefully one of the people who are aware of the problem will chime in. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful about an actual solution... :?

Thanks, Jason! That solved the color problem. Is Rotel aware of this glitch and are they making a fix available?

Also, any idea why I am unable to play these two DVD-A discs I purchased when all my other DVD-As play fine. These two are from Deutche Grammophon and are two of the first four DVD-As that they have released. I have contacted DG about this problem but have yet to receive a reply.

From what I've heard, Rotel is working on software upgrades for the 1060. Whether it adresses that particular problem, I don't know. Maybe Andrew will see this thread and send am email off to his contact at Rotel ;x( regarding the software upgrade and if it will cover this very strange issue. Other than that if I were you I'd send an email to Rotel's tech support asking them about both problems. I have no idea why certain discs won't play either....sorry :?

For those with problems with your 1060's please email me and I'll provide you with Mike Sheehan's email address. He's the guy you need to talk to about having your units updated with the new software. Unfortunatly its going to mean shipping your player to Rotel as the updates a little tricky due to the DVD-A capabilities of the 1060 player.

Why buy a native widescreen projector instead of 4:3 native?

This has come up in other discussions here. This is actually something I learned about recently also, I think on information posted on Projector Central.

                1068 "display" problem........
                by bulitnv
I just received a 1068 back from Rotel as a replacement for a 1068 I sent in for repair.

It works great, but when I turn the system off, some of the digital pixals remain partially lit in the display. I thought I read of others having this problem but could not find it in the search....

                RDV1060 DVDA Problem
                by fordster
I've had my RDV1060 for a few weeks now and finally got round to buying a DVD Audio (Under Rug Swept - Alanis Morrisette). When I insert the disc the player picks up that it is a DVDA and shows 96-24MLP on the display. However, that's about all that happens beyond a bit of clicking. The timer eventually...

I have my configuration since October last year and from the start I have a problem with my RDV1060 and RSP1098 that if correct all users of the SCART connection should have. If the RDV1060 is connected to my TV through the SCART connection and the DVD-player is set on SCART then the TFT on the 1098...

                RVE-1060 Problem

I haven't been using my RVE-1060 for 6 months due to moving house but finally put it back into our theatre system on the weekend. I have it acting as a HDMI switch so that the HTPC and STB can share the second input to our HD950 projector.

I am having two problems with it which didn't...
