    stereo preamp for 1080?

I have just purchased the 1080 amp off a friend. Now its time to find a pre-amp.

What do you guys recommend for this amp? I want something as transparent as possible, and i would like to try and take advantage of the Balanced Inputs on the amp. cost IS a consideration for me.

    Thanks for the input.

If money is a consideration then a Rotel RC-1070 will work just fine.

I have RC-1070 for my RB-1080 and am very happy. However, if you want to use balanced connections you would need RC-1090 which is discontinued from Rotel (a few months ago only though), but may still be available from dealers. RC-1070 does not have balanced outputs.

I jsut went though choosing a preamp for my 1080. My budget was around $1000 at most. I settled on a Parasound Halo P3. I was able to get B stock so I ended up paying about 50% off MRSP. So the price/performance consideration become a definite deciding factor here.

When I used teh P3 with my 1080, the results were fantastic. I should mention that I used the balanced outputs. The sound seemed a bit warmer and fuller which is a great complement to the detailed nature of my b&w 805s and nordost cables. How much if this is attributed to the P3 and how much is attributed to the balanced IC, I dont know. But to me it made my system start to produce the sound that I find pleasing (full, warm, intimate, yet detailed).

I will probably look into tube preamps in the not so distant future but i need to give my wallet and savings account a break, they are still smoking after the last 2 month spending spree I have been on.

              I'm using a Rotel RC-1090 pre-amp and I must say it's very, very nice!
It's build like a hefty amplifier inside.

New press release just came out. FINALLY! I know a couple of our club members here have been waiting for this one for a while.

There's a few things about this final release model that I find interesting:

                Hi all,

Would there be any benefit to using a separate stereo preamplifier hooked up to my home theater pre/pro in bypass mode so that I can watch movies in 5.1 and listen to 2 channel using the stereo preamp? I'm using the RSP 1572 HT pre/pro and wondering if getting the Rotel RC 1570...

                Hi all,

I'd appreciate any collective wisdom on the Bel Canto Pre2 stereo preamp as a significant upgrade over my Onkyo 797 receiver. I'm using the onkyo's preout's into a Parasound a51 amplifier. I feel that for movies the onkyo is fine but for stereo it is lacking. I listen to at...

I just got myself to get a Rotel 1056 receiver. Stepped up from a Yamaha RX-V750 receiver. Heard a Big jump in sound quality. What do you think? Anyway.. I have a couple of questions about adding a 2 channel amp to my Rotel 1056. I had originally thought about adding a Rotel RB-1070 but reading...
