    1066 volume levels after upgrade

    Hello!

I have just successfully upgraded to the latest firmware for the 1066 (thanks to all the postings and help on this board) . After the upgrade I went to recalibrate my speaker levels and noticed that the volume level needed to achieve the correct reading on my SPL meter had risen significantly (from about 50 to 65). After the initial level was set, the remaining speakers seemed to require to about the same +/- settings on the 1066 to bring them in line as before the upgrade. While I admit to only using the test tome and not a calibration CD and that this has not seemed to affect the performance of my system, I was wondering if anyone else observed this or had a reason for its occurrence.

    Thanks
    Phil

What version were you coming from? Check the FAQ, during one version they changed the volume level of the test tones I think. That might have caused what you saw.

      Thanks for the info!

It does state that in the latest version the test tone was changed to -30DB but it didnt say from what. Does that mean I should be recalibrating differently (e.g. going for something lower than 80DB as the reference)or does that just mean it takes more volume to get to the same levels on the 1066 with the upgraded firmware.

It's all relative.. When using Video essentials I tend to put the volume at 75 and go from there. With just using internal test tones, reference doesn't mean much, ie they can change what level the test tone is at and 'mess up' your perfectly good calibration. Setting to reference needs to have a source reference to work right..

The new Video Essentials was less than $20 shipped from overstock.com, so there should be no excuses!

Rotel 1068 vs 1066: Volume levels

I recently upgraded from RSP-1066 to 1068 and find that I have to increase the volume level to 60-70 range (the number displayed) as opposed to what I was using in RSP-1066 which was in 45-55 range for same loudness. I have RMB-1075 powering the speakers and nothing has changed in the set-up except...

800D/Di/801D owners. Do they play nice at low volume levels?

            Hello all.

I've been looking at swapping my Klipsch RF-7II for a pair of B&W. My system is setup in the living room so in many cases I play music at low volume levels.

Over the years I've learned that not all speakers play nice until you crank up the volume quite a...

            Upgrading;Differences 1066/1068/1098
            by rosros
The Rotel web site is updated to include the 1066 replacement, the 1068. They also have the 1068 manual online. Having both 1098 and 1066 inhouse (wished the 1068 was here), I compared features, sound and the manuals for the 1098 to the 1068 to the 1066; here are the differences: Note I own the 1066...
