    OSD help for noob

First I want to start off by saying that I am a total newbie to HT and just purchased my first real HT system (that wasn't bought at Bestbuy):

    Rotel RSX-1056
    Rotal RDV-1040
    Richard Gray RGPC 400 Pro
    2 B&W 602 s3 fronts
    2 B&W M1 rears
    B&W LCR600 center
    SVS 20-39PCi sub
    2 B&W ASW600 sub (haven't decided which ones I like better)
    All MIT cables

Here is my problem. I have my DVD player going directly into the television using component cables. I don't currently have any video channel going through my reciever and I want to use the OSD. I have tried several things trying to get the OSD to come up but nothing I seem to do will cause it to come up.

I currently have an S-Video going from the S-video "Mon out" to my TV but that doesn't seem to get the display up as I don't have any video going into the reciever. Any ideas?

Ya, I know that is there and that doesn't bring up the display. I will have to double check all the connections.

The lack of video signal input to the receiver should not be a problem, the OSD should still work. Just some quick thoughts... Did you change the input setting on your T.V. to accept the S-VHS signal from your receiver?
Are sure you are using the "video monitor out' and not just "video out" on the receiver?

Have you tried going from the mon out of receiver to another video input on tv(#2). And keeping the componet video from dvd player on another input(#3) I'm using this method for now. When I want to access the osd, I press aud and then osd button. Then you can use the tv remote to go to input #2 for example.

              rsx-1055 osd problems (HELP!)
              by Jaime
Hello all, I'm having problems with my osd, everytime I press the osd (menu) button, I get kind of a scrambled image of the osd, it looks like electric interference, and then fades to just interference. I have tried changing composite cables, I've tried svideo cables and even changing inputs in my tv....

Any tricks to get C2 OSD for HDMI Sources???
              by jprafter
I'm very happy with my Parasound setup though it looks like my C2 will never support HDMI fully. I use a combination of my C2 and TV for video switching along with the MX-700 macros. So I really have no need for a Parasound HDMI switch only device, since it will do nothing to help with OSD.

Hello, hope some of you might be able to help me. I am attempting to set up my RSX1055. I finaly have everything hooked up, but I can't get the OSD on the remote to work.

The remote that came with the 1055 is the RR1050. All the other functions seem to work fine.

Key Sequence for OSD menus on 1056?
              by fvoelling
              Hi,

I just got a 1056 and have it hooked up via component to a front projector. Video inputs are component (from DVD and X-box) as well. When I press "Menu", nothing happens (on the screen), and it says in the manual that you need to tell the 1056 if you are using progressive...
