    RCC-1055 question

Does the Rotel RCC-1055 5 CD carousel offer no repeat shuffle for all 5 CDs? The spec sheet does not say. What other random modes are available. Thanks.

Other owners please reply - need to know before I purchase. Sales people could not say for sure.

It'll play thru all 5 discs randomly without repeating. Not sure about other random modes since I never use any others.

When I first got it, it wasn't a very random "rando" mode". A lot of times, it'd play 3-4 songs in a row from the same CD. It seems to have gotten better since then. Might be how the pseudo-random numbers are generated when new out of the box? Who knows.

I'm happy with mine. No problems. Sounds great.

      - Kirk.

        Some random driver tests

Before Christmas I had been building a test rig. Over the holidays I was sick and without energy to do much and didn't want to leave the house, what better time to run through a bunch of driver tests. I ended up testing everything I had sitting on my shelves, as well as pulled a few drivers that I'm...

        Gear that changed your HT?
        by Andrew Pratt
Is there any single peice of HT gear that really changed your HT? For me its the Pronto by a mile. You see there have been a number of choices that I've made since getting the pronto that I might not have made had I not had the pronto so its becoming integral to the system. One such example is that...

        Breakup Modes

Breakup modes refer to the resonant behavior or vibrations that occur when the diaphragm or cone of a loudspeaker driver starts to deform and produce undesirable sound artifacts at certain frequencies. Such resonances can be caused by various factors including the inherent stiffness and mass of the diaphragm, its shape, and the material(s) used. Breakup modes typically manifest as peaks and dips in the frequency response of the driver, indicating that certain frequencies...

        Surround Modes & Music

I had a party recently and found 5-channel stereo fantastic in my crowded room. It spread the sound evenly and allowed for the best sound considering the awkward seating (and standing) positions.

That got me thinking...do you guys ever use surround modes for music? The DSP modes like...

AVP DTS Music and DTS Film Modes

Does anyone out there know the difference between the DTS modes that are now available on the AVP? When I put in a DTS DVD, the AVP seems to default to DTS Music, despite the fact that I have a movie in the player . One would think that defaulting to Movie mode would make more sense... I don't have...
