    RMB-1075 vs. Dynaudio Contour 3.0

Guys, my Dynaudio dealer offered me a rarity... a pair of Contour 3.0, with the factory seal in the box!

The question is, will my RMB-1075 delivery enough power to drive them well for two channel music without a sub?

I won't be able to make an amp upgrade for a long time after buying these speakers, so what do you think, should I go for it anyway?

My actual system is Rotel RMB-1075/RSP-1068 duo, Dynaudio Audience 52 SE for fronts, 42C for center, 42 for surrounds and Sunfire MK-II sub in an average room.

    Thanks for any help.

It can power them but you might want to upgrade to at least the RMB1095. The Dynaudio 3.0's are incredible speakers and one of my personal favorites. You also might want to consider the RB1080 or 1090. These amp will do a better job driving such excellent speakers.

This is my personal opnion. You could give it a try. The RMB1075 is no slouch but when compared to the RB1070 for 2 channel driving a pair of Dynaudio Audience 72's , the RB1070 sounded better and had more dynamics. Maybe it was just me but I thought the RMB1075 sounded a bit muddy compared to the RB1070. The Rb1070 just seemed to be a bit clearer.
We ran this test at a friends house who owns that gear.

I own the Dynaudio Audience 82's. I bought the RMB1095 due to that demo and alot of research. If your going to own superior speakers, then owning a superior seems like the right thing.

If your getting a killer deal on the 3.0's I say still go for it. The RMB1075 may or may not do them justice today, but down the road when you have saved your pennies, get a better amp and have new sounding speakers again...

Good advice Dan! One point of note is the Contour has a 4 ohm load. I am confident the Rotel RMB-1075 can handle a 4-ohm load but how well, I don't know. I would think the 1095 would do better and/or one of the Rotel 2-channel amps as Dan described.

Guys, the Contours are at home!

I took my 1075 to the audition and all I can say is that I was really surprised in how well the 3.0's played with it in a medium-sized room.

I do believe the amp benefits from an extra power reserve by not having the load of the extra 3 channels when playing in stereo, the results are much better than I thought.

          Thanks again for your advise!

Are they bi-amp capable, if so might be worth experimenting just to see how they sound bi-amped if the other three channels are sitting there unused?

Will only still be using 4 of the 5 channels so give it a go if you can

Rotel 1068 and 1075 never do justice with Contour 3.0
