which rotel amp for Matrix 805?

    which rotel amp for Matrix 805?

    i was wondering if anyone had any thoughs on which amp might be best suited for my matrix 805's

    I have been using a 5ch RB-985 (100 watt/150 dampening factor) in combination with an RSP980 preamp for the past five years or so, but i have decided to move away from the multi channel setup back in the 2-channel land.

    I was thinking that maybe the 1070 integrated might be more appropriate for my purposes, or using the RB 1070 or 1080 amp? would any of this be an improvement?

      If you can demo whichever one you plump for.

      But the RB-1080 Power would be a good choice for your speakers. Then a pre...

      The trouble is what sort of pre Rotel or another company if sticking with Rotel then the 1090 pre? I think is the one to go for as the 1068 is about as good as a 1070 as a pre amp Sure you don't want to upgrade to a 1068 processor and a 1080 for the front 2 channels

          Why would using a pre/pro + amp still deliver "better" sound quality than a receiver + amp? If a amp was connected to a receiver, wouldn't the onboard amp on the receiver basically be disabled? if this is the case why is it still better to use a dedicated pre/pro than a receiver?

          My distance from the CD to AMP is only 1m, so I am tempted to use RCA, however I have heard XLR can give 2-3db more output.
