Hi,
I've owned a Rotel RSX 1056 since december of 2004. I've used it exclusively in a stereo setup connected to a Denon DVD-3910 as the sole source. It had been working fine until last week, when out of the blue, it began experiencing some strange issues. They are as follows:
(1) The receiver stops responding to the remote. I'm using the Rotel rr-1050, which came with the 1056, to control the Denon player and my Samsung HLP-4674. Both the Denon and the Samsung respond fine to the remote; but the Rotel simply stops responding. This might be a battery issue where the Rotel receiver simply has a lower threshold of sensitivity to the remote.
(2) While listening to a movie through the Rotel, I hear a thump and the sound goes away. The display on the Rotel is still on but it doesn't respond neither to the remote nor to direct manipulation. The 1056 only goes back to normal operation after a power cycle.
(3) The last couple of days, this issue has become more serious. Where as after a power cycle everything would go back to normal last week, the last couple of days the issue reoccurs after a few minutes. This leads me to believe that the issue is getting worse.
(4) I thought it might be heat issues, but it doesn't appear to be so. The heat vents are not being obstructed at all and they don't appear to be hotter than normal as they've always been.
(5) The last couple of times, the machine has actually shutdown with display and standby button going off. After this happened, I disconnected the unit from the power conditioner and haven't plugged it back in.
Has anyone experienced these issues? Are these known problems with this model?
Thanks,
Vlad
