Does this sound like a deal?

I start by apologizing if this is in the wrong forum(it does have to do with my Rotel RMB-1095), but the traffic in Club Rotel I hope will answer the question before Wednesday. Here goes. I'm getting the new Paradigm Studio 40's, 20, 470 v3 on Wednesday, now that I've sold my old Paradigm setup. Dealer has offered me the speakers at a price of $3100CDN(sticker price tax in: 15% savings) and 2pr Premier audio S series speaker stands($285CDN tax in) free. Should I shoot for more? Thanks for your input.

I take it these speakers are brand new. With the added stands thrown in the mix for free, you're essentially getting almost 20% off. I think you're getting a great deal. However, me being the consumate haggler, I would go to at least 1 or 2 other dealers that carry the same brand to see if they can beat the price. For a set of speakers quoted to me, I was to be given a 17% discount. I went to another dealer and he'd be willing to give me a 23% discount. Of course you'd also have to weigh with whom you think you'd get the best support from.

Thanks for the feedback Aeromos. Unfortunatley the nearest other dealer of Paradigm to me is 45min away in either direction. I've called a couple and all have the same retail, guaranteeing 15% off on the phone, more if I come in. So I think what I'm getting at my local dealer isn't bad.

If you're comfortable in dealing with that particular dealer, and your top choice is Paradigm, then I say go for it. I'm sure you'll start a good relationship with them. See if they keep a history on their clients' buying history. If so, you're next purchases in the years to come should be even better discounted.

        Are you in T.O?

I hope you had a good price in selling your v2. My dealer just exchange all my v2 for v3 for FREE. Hope you didn't loose money.

My dealer told me that the v3 cost them around the same price has the v2 in Canada, but Paradigm wants them to boost the price on the v3...

            Hey levesque,

I thought about auditioning the Paradigms but haven't done so yet. Someone I know had a really good set. Is there any real difference between v2 versus v3?

Is there a big difference between Paradigm reference v2 and v3?

Personnally, in my own opinion... no. Has you can see on the description on my system, I changed only my surrounds, back centers and center, BUT I kept my Studio-100v2. Why? Because me an my dealer, we did agree that the internal bracing of the 100 v2 is better then the v3, so the sound was better, FOR US, with the v2. Maybe it's because of the veneer that is not disponible on the v3, we don't know... I know purists will say the front stage won't "blend" well with a mix of v2 and v3, but I can't ear a difference, and the transition is seamless with my fronts, so I keep it that way. A Paradigm rep told me the v2 and v3 are still timbre match, and my ears can't ear a difference...

Why did I change the center CC for a 570? Because I'm listening to alot of DVD-A and SACD and the center is really important for those, and I really think the 570 is an improvement over the CCv2.

Why did I changed the 20v2 (back centers) and the 40v2 (surrounds) for v3? Because they are now front port. So I can put them near a wall, and it will be easier in my dedicated Ht to do so, instead of having them at 3 feet form the side-walls and back-wall. So it's more a convenience then a real improvement in sound. With a little 11 months daughter, those surrounds on stands were like magnet to her! Now they are wall-mounted... Safer...

And I didn't pay for the exchange, so why not?

BTW, I will probably all change them soon for the Signature serie. Did you see that new sub? WOW!
To spend more $$$ on electronics without first addressing room acoustics is fruitless IMO.

I'm new to the forum and will soon be acquiring a new stereo system. Based on the reading I've done, and the friends I've talked to, I expect to base the system on a Rotel pre-amp (RC-1070 or RC-1090), a Rotel amp (RB-1070 or RB-1080), and Paradigm Reference Studio 20 speakers. Unfortunatley, we live...

                Hi!

I recently moved from a Denon 3300 with Titan mains, CDP-170 center and ADP-170 surrounds to a Denon 2805 and changed out the Titans with a new pair of Monitor 5's.

The Denon 2805 was all I was willing to pay for at the time (two weeks ago). I found the sound not very...
