Hi-Fi News this month did a DVD-A only review of various players ranging from a £170 Panasonic to a £2000 Toshiba. I think it safe to say that they loved it.
''This is clearly the classiest player so far', remarked one listener, pre-empting the final decision of the panel.'
'Described variously as 'gorgeous' and 'luxurious', the RDV-1060 drew us further into every DVD-A in our selection.'
'Toshiba's £2000 SD-9500 ...... .Here is a player that sounds very close to the very best but, as if to prove the last step is often the furthest, not close enough. That step was only taken by the new RDV-1060 from Rotel...'
'This is DVD-A at its very best.'
Shame there was no video review as well. However Rotel appear to be on a bit of a roll recently. In Hi-Fi Choice's System Builder section last month they chose the RA-1062, describing it as 'The cream of the current integrated crop'.
Looking forward to a review of the 1098, particularly if it was stacked up against the likes of Arcam, Meridian, Tag and Bryston.
