How should I hook this sub up to my preamp? Or should it be hooked up to my RB-1070 amp? I do not see any level inputs on the rear. I am new to subs so any help is appreciated. I will be using in 2 ch mode with my B&W N804.

Take 1 channel from you're RB-1070 output and run it into the input in the sub. It has an internal passive crossover to deal with unused frequencies. I assume you're sub has a built in amp as well? If so, and you use both channels of you're RB-1070 to drive the B&W's you could put "Y" splitters between the RC-1070, RB-1070, and run a 2nd set of patch cords to the sub low level inputs, right and left. There may be some signal degradation by doing this. The RC-1070 is a nice 2 channel preamp, not 2.1. (The .1 refering to the sub)- Bottom

Rel subs have there own cable for connecting for 2 channel playback. You must use it if you want to connect line level.
It should have come with your sub. If not Email Rel and get one.
This cable has a special connector on one side which connects to the sub, and the other has 3 wires. Red Black and yellow. The Yellow is for Left Positive and the Red and black of for the Right side positive and negitive. The connects shares the common ground with the right channel.
This is the best connection for 2 channel playback. You can also use the sub for theater as well as it has 2 preamps inside one box. It's very cool as you can setup the sub 2 different ways.

Thanks Dan. I did not get the cable. My amp (Rotel RB-1070) has only one set of binding posts. Will it damage the amp to have my mains (B&W 804) & sub hooked up together or should the mains be connected to the sub?Originally posted by DmantisRel subs have there own cable for connecting for 2 channel playback. I use a REL Storm III in my two-channel system with my Nautilus 804s. Dan is right. You hook the small multi-colored leads to the amp's terminals. That way, the sub is getting the same signal as the speakers, which REL says is best way to integrate a sub with other speakers. There is no harm in doing this. The cable is the neutrik speakon. Go to REL's web site or Sumiko (a U.S. distributor of REL.)- Bottom

I don't own a REL, so for curiosity sake you run the amplifier outputs into the sub? I assume they must configure the crossovers in such a way not to load the amp by paralleling with an unknown impedance speaker. Cool.- Bottom

by minerI am contemplating a sub to use with my B&W 804s - preferably in the $800 range. Does it need to be an 800 series sub (B&W) or could a 600 or 700 series be used? Also, with my current set up (Rotel RC-1070 & RB-1070) would I hook sub to amp & then 804s to sub or run a pre-out to the...-

Any good CD player to match with my Rotel RC1070 & RB1070?
Currently I am using a normal DVD player to hook up this system..
BTW, does getting a good CD player make the music sound "warmer" or no different?
Currently, this...-

by gmusicDear Members,
I am looking for a new music system. I was wondering if RC1070 along with the RB1072 is a good combination or not. I also had a look at the RB1070 (130 Watt) and was wondering if that would go along with the pre-amplifier. 1070 is cheaper then the 1072, but does provide...-
