    Rotel RC1070/RB1070 vs. NAD 162/272

Although I certainly understand that this might not be the appropriate forum to ask this question, I figured that all of you have had experience with other brands of separates. So, here goes:

I auditioned the Rotel RC1070/RB1070 preamp & power amp running both a pair of Paradigm Reference Studio 100s & a pair of B&W 802 speakers. As a newbie to separates, I was favorably impressed.

Since I might not have the opportunity to audition the NAD 162/272, I would really appreciate your candid comments on how they compare to the Rotels. Thank you!

    Rotel Customer Service is Awful!!!

I have in the past used NAD and have been very happy with their equipment for many years. This time around, I upgraded with several newer and went with a Rotel CD, line conditioner and their 2X200 watt amp. Though the equipment sounds good, it is a toss up as to which one is better. Where NAD shines is their customer service... they were always quick to help and very supportive of a novice audiophile. Rotel, on the other hand has been very bad and very difficult to deal with. I have always been quick to forgive when someone does not know the answers but I am very hard on those who have a bad attitude, are annoyed by those asking questions and to those who do not respond to inquires... This has been my experience with Rotel. I would be very careful before proceeding with Rotel and strongly recommend NAD. Good Luck!

I have not had the bad experience dannyk spoke of. Every time I've sent them a question I've gotten a speedy reply (no more than two days). They've even shared some "un-documented" material when I asked about resetting a surround processor that had gotten confused. The one time I needed a warranty repair I had the item back in a week. I'm well satisfied as a customer.

I most agree with Bluespower, i have always been very happy with the service Rotel provided. Quick responses, helpfull answers and even some tips and tricks enve when not asked just because they care i guess.

            My .02 Cents

I spent the morning in my local Definitive Audio. I hadn't been in and wanted to hear the newest gear they were carrying from Paradigm, B&W, NAD and Rotel. This is my first review so go easy fellas.

            Rotel vs. NAD?
            by steelgtr
            Hi Guys,

Did anyone consider NAD when purchasing the Rotel? They both get high reviews as being very musical. The NAD is considerately less money. Are they in the same league?

Also, what country is Rotel made in?

            thx

Can I switch off two front channels in my RSX 1055 Receiver.
            by pramod
            Dear Fellow Rotelions,

I have RSX-1055 Receiver and I have a NAD C272(150WPCx2) Power amp to power my fronts via 1055 pre outs, (which I already did and using it)
            Now here is my question....

I'm utilizing only five channels out of total 7 channels from both the "amp+receiver",...

            Klipsch RF3 & Rotel RB991
            by ALS
            Dear Freinds,

What's your opinion on Klipsch RF3 & Rotel RB991 power + RC1070 pre. Source as NAD 541i. I found the sound from above combo is bright & loud & not very balanced. My feeling is RB991 may be too much power (200rms/ch) for RF3s, since it's a high efficiency speaker...

            Impressions on the NAD M51
            by PewterTA
Well I've had my NAD M51 for over a week so far using it everyday and I figured I'd post up some impressions and opinions on the DAC. First I will say that my unit is a factory (NAD) refurbished which saved a few hundred bucks on the unit. I ordered it from SpearIt Sound up in Massachusetts and they...
