I am contemplating a sub to use with my B&W 804s - preferably in the $800 range. Does it need to be an 800 series sub (B&W) or could a 600 or 700 series be used? Also, with my current set up (Rotel RC-1070 & RB-1070) would I hook sub to amp & then 804s to sub or run a pre-out to the sub from the preamp?
recommend an affordable sub

For $800 I would suggest doing some research and look towards any of these...
SVS PC+25-31 $775 www.svsubwoofers.com
HSU VTF3-MK2 $699 www.hsuresearch.com
ACI Force $750 www.audioc.com
Adire Audio Sadhara $595 www.adireaudio.com
I think they will do a lot better than the B&Ws you are looking into, but that's just my opinion.
You will want to hook the sub inline (as you said) this way you can use the crossover of the sub so that the lower bass frequencies aren't sent to the speaker and sub, just one one or the other. I believe all the subs I mentioned have the high-pass filter, but I could be wrong, if not, then all you need is a line converter to send the signal over to an RCA type connection.Digital Audio makes me Happy.

I did talk him into going for the Outlaw 1050 at $499. While...-

by Classe4meThis post is directed to the SSP-800 owners who started out with the single board processor, and kept the unit at least long enough to experience it with the dual DSP boards. I am going to have to make some assumptions here, at least concerning those who have used this unit as much or more for surround...-

by sikonikoI'll start by saying that this thread is by my own doing, and not at the request of Classe. They do read these threads but don't expect them to participate.
Now that the SSP-800 is out, what features/ capability would you like to see added?
I think its a moot point to mention...-
